Great zoo - Very good, lots too see. Oceanarium is a highlight. Lots for you kids. Sadly the butterflies appeared closed, which was the only letdown.

Amazing trip - The zoo was wonderful. It was really nice to see the animals. This is a really good trip for families, couples even friends. I'd definitely recommend it. Also it's only 15 mins by bus from Rotterdam Central, so it's really not far.

Great zoo. - Enjoyed our experience. Lots of animals and took some great photos. Lots to do if you have children with plenty of play areas and picnic/cafe areas . Lots of walking! Wear comfy shoes! Not so busy when we went so could get up close to the enclosures. My daughters especially loved the red pandas and the Oceanatic tunnel.

Great zoo - We had a night ferry to catch from Rotterdam in our Motorhome the zoo proved the ideal place to visit Motorhome easily accommodated in the car park zoo 10 mins off motorway and 25 mins from the port The zoo itself was well presented with animals arranged in geographical zones The aquarium was excellent we enjoyed in more than the deep in Hull Some areas where being renovated but this did not detract from the ex pop erience Animals looked well cared for and content with the exception of the poor polar bear who looked clinically depressed

Unethical and Non-Accessible. - This is the worst zoo that I have ever been to. All of the animals are in enclosures that are far too small, and are very stressed, pacing constantly. The worst being the polar bear, which was constantly flipping and performing the same behaviour underwater, which is an obvious sign of boredom and distress. The rhinos and elephants were locked outside of their house, pacing and also performing the same behaviours, they very clearly did not have access to the indoor area which is where they wanted to be. One of the rhinos were also quite underweight. They were kept separate and wanted to be together and was very distressing to watch. The Pygmy hippo seems to be on its own, with only a very small enclosure. It only had a small amount of water too. All of the animals seemed lethargic as if they had lost the will to live. Not only that, it’s incredibly inaccessible with certain areas being closed off to wheelchair users, such as the top of the sea lion exhibit and the Chinese Turin area. This meant that I had to get someone to carry my wheelchair down and up the steps which if a person was permanently in a wheelchair, would simply not be appropriate. Another thing that I am saddened to report is that of a member of the volunteer staff pointed at me when I was sat in my wheelchair. I found this very distressing, as I felt as if my disability was being made fun of. Overall, my experience of this zoo was absolutely terrible, and I would not recommend it to anyone, I feel so sorry for the animals being held captive here.

Felt like watching real life tragedy - It was really sad experience to watch the animals in such a small spaces, it was rather depressive than enjoyable, I would not recommend. I think the zoo should invest in more space for the animals and maybe also more care, because they seem extremally lonely.

Waste of my money! - We thought we would go away with the family today on Valentine's Day, the 4 of us. Nothing was more disappointing than this… Despite the Valentine's Day promotion (tickets 1+1 free), Diergaarde Blijdorp was not worth my money. Firstly, there was an event organized by Zadkine in the park (this was not mentioned anywhere on the promotion's website). As a result, almost all catering establishments are closed. So just having a drink and sheltering from the rain is not possible... Secondly, almost all accommodations are under renovation or closed? I think we saw less than half of the animals in the park today. Third, the park is, to put it bluntly, disgusting. The park looks unkempt and does not exude a nice atmosphere like it used to. I no longer recommend anyone to go to Blijdorp Zoo.

overpriced zoo, disappointing experience - DISAPPOINTED!! The zoo was confusing, there wasn't a clear path to be followed like at other zoos, which lead us to miss lots of animals and exhibits. Plus, many exhibitions were closed, which was not told to us before, or mentioned on the web site. On of their biggest exhibitions, amazonia, was closed, sadly because i especially came to see it. Moreover, some of the animals were agitated and even angry, for example the cheetah was very unhappy and raging at kids, because of this i do not think they had the best conditions. As well as that, be aware that they do not accept cash at the stores selling water and snacks inside the zoo.
