Highlights
  • City Wonders - Location
  • Pompeii Archaeological Park - The eruption in AD 79 spelled a fiery end for Pompeii, but the catastrophe also almost perfectly preserved the port city under layers of Volcanic ash. Thousands of years later, you can still explore the eerie streets and step inside homes, bathhouses and fast food places on your guided tour.

You’ll travel from Rome to Pompeii in an air-conditioned private coach, accompanied and entertained all the way by your expert tour leader. Skip the line at Pompeii and head for a leisurely self-led tour around the city which paints a vivid picture of life in final days before the eruption. Throughout the ruins, you’ll come across harrowing death casts: plaster recreations of unfortunate citizens preserved by the superheated volcanic ash.

  • Vesuvius National Park - It’s a short coach ride from Pompeii to the foot of the volcano that still looms above it. A half-mile hike from the parking lot takes you right to the sometimes still-steaming crater of Mt. Vesuvius - still perhaps the most dangerous volcano in the world. Stand at the epicentre of that ancient disaster and feel awe at the utter devastation it must have caused, to blast an entire city off the map for millennia. Then turn and enjoy the contrast: the crater offers the most stunning view of the sun-drenched Bay of Naples.

In the winter months, when Vesuvius is closed for hiking, the tour travels from Pompeii to Naples, with panoramic views of the volcano and historical commentary from your tour co-ordinator along the way. You’ll have ample free time to explore Naples - a city as vibrant and alive as Pompeii is quiet and affecting - before the comfortable coach returns you to Rome.

  • Amalfi Coast - If Amali - Positano option selected
After some free time for a few last pictures of Pompeii and lunch (at own expense) the tour will continue further south along the picturesque seaside roads of the Amalfi Coast where the Dolce Vita was born. Here your breath will be taken away by the spectacular coastlines as the mountains cascade into the sea and romantic villages climb up the mountains like grapevines.
  • Positano - If Amali - Positano option selected
The winding roads will lead you to one of the most beautiful seaside villages that the Amalfi Coast has to offer, Positano. Here you will have free time to explore the meandering streets lined with artisanal local shops or just sit back and enjoy the incredible view while sipping the local specialty, limoncello! Whichever you choose you will be sure to remember your afternoon in this jewel of a seaside village.

Great Day our in Pompeii - Epic day! We went from the Rome city center by coach out to Vesuvius first, climbed to the rim, then a nice lunch, then a guided tour of Pompeii. Could not imagine working that all out myself. I might've structured our Pompeii time differently (a strange emphasis on a brothel...), but overall, I was very pleased. Note that the bus stops both directions at a crazy-expensive tourist trap in Cassino. The restaurant on the other side of the building is much more reasonable price with better food. We also lacked clarity on how long to spend on the volcano, leading to some scrambling back. That said, overall a great day out!

Worthwhile tour but a bit too much time on the bus - The stops to Pompeii and Positano were worth the trip, and our tour guides were informative, professional, and entertaining. We only wished we had more time at each destination; Positano, in particular, felt very rushed. About eight of the 13 total hours of the tour were spent on the bus.

Excellent Tour; Not Toddler Friendly - Excellent tours of Vesuvius and Pompeii. The bus ride was comfortable (although very little leg room). Lunch was phenomenal!! We toured in April and had unseasonably cold weather, some rain, and even snow on top of Vesuvius - it was still an amazing experience! I wish there were less bathroom breaks on the route to/from in order to make more time at Pompeii (only 90 minutes). The biggest disappointment was how unaccommodating the tour company is with toddlers. They did not serve them lunch and did not allow a stroller. A stroller in Pompeii would have made the experience much more enjoyable for our family as it’s too much walking for little ones. I would’ve happily paid for a separate ticket for my toddler had they served him lunch, given him his own seat on the bus, and allowed a stroller.

Great tour, but tiring - Great tour, our guide Chiara was wonderful and knowledgeable as was the guide at Pompeii. Just be aware it is a very, very long day and kind of hard to appreciate Pompeii when you arrive already exhausted. But both Positano and Pompeii are well worth seeing.

Need a little more freedom in Pompeii - I did the Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii trip. Vesuvius was something I am happy I have done and the view you get from the top is unreal. Our guide Anna was amazing with her knowledge of the regions and architecture we passed by from Rome to Vesuvius. Adamo our driver, again brilliant. Unfortunately the four stars is due to our guide at pompeii. Everything was rushed and we seemed to focus more on the roads more so than what has been found in terms of art and structures. I would have loved to have focused on the rooms that have their artwork and structures recoverrd and the main square temples. However, we got shown two shops the bath house and then left for 10minutes to explore the main square ourselves... I felt like we missed out on options to see more. I'll definitely go back to pompeii again as it is pompeii, it's insanely interesting just might not go with a guide this time.

Disappointed - Pompei trip was shorter of 45 min. The most beautiful part of Pompeii was skip, we haven't seen house with fresco, nor mosaic floor with dogs, Lupanare - we can't go there, according to our guide it was too busy to get there. Terme of Pompeii we saw only from outside.

Too long of a day with minimal site seeing. - Our day was 15 hours long. Two hours at Pompeii, 1+ at visuvios, 1 for average cheese pizza. Balance of time was travel. Not an enjoyable day.

Disappointment - Our guide Paola was great, but I booked this tour just because we wanted to climb to mount Vesuvius and see crater. Cold shower. They did not take us to see crater. We just got some geologist who barely spoke English and all I found out is that he is anarchist and vegetarian. So if you want to see crater, forget this tour. They will not bring you even close.
