A great experience - We had the best day with our guides. It was only 3 of us in total which was a bonus . The horses were so sweet, well trained and maintained. The guides were great and so helpful.

Must Do in Reykjavík! - This was a bucket list event! The Solhestar horses were so beautiful, well cared for, and loved. During the ride, we all did a collected trot but then you had the option of just walking or continuing with a faster pace. (Our group was 5 people, three of whom were by themselves. Four had not ridden in years and one who had never ridden.) The scenery through an ancient lava field was amazing. Our guides, Claudia and Clara, were well versed in horsemanship and the local area. They were kind, pleasant, helpful, and very informative. We were picked up at bus stop #4, which made this event even easier. This has been the highlight of my trip, so far. I would recommend it to everyone!

A Day Well Spent! - Icelandic horses tour… hadn't been on a horse in 20 years, so I felt the 90 minutes in the saddle afterwards. However, Femke our tour guide was fantastic and made us feel super comfortable. We experienced every level of Icelandic weather to include, rain, sleet, hail, snow, sunshine, and even got a glimpse of a faint rainbow. They provide all the equipment you need. A day well spent!

A Special Experience - The views were amazing and some of these areas were exclusive to only horseback riding, which made the experience more special.

Wonderful experience - The staff were super amazing, and helped us in the way. They know how to safely ride on a horse, and told us all the next instructions. ( I booked a different tour from another company, and they did not seem to pay attention to our safety ) I would definitely come back if I have a chance!

Icelandic horses though lava fields - I’m so glad we did this! The horses were awesome, so sweet, and gentle. Our tour guides were wonderful and made everything super easy to do and understand. The lava caves were super cool with dark red rock and winding paths. I felt like the ride was just long enough. There were times we trotted/went faster and that super fun but if that makes you nervous there was an option to opt out.

Solhestar & the Icelandic Horse Adventure - My son wanted to have an opportunity to spend a little time with the Icelandic horses since he knew that this breed of horses is native only to Iceland.  He learned on a tour with Hidden Iceland that once an Icelandic horse leaves Iceland it can never return. There was a law passed by Alþingi parliament which prevents any importation of other breeds to Iceland.  Thus, the breed has been kept in isolation for many years.  The Icelandic horses are small compared to American standards however, they are still categorized as horses. They also have five gaits which results in a different trot.  We were able to experience this moment on our tour with Solhestar and it was quite a unique experience.   A visit to Solhestar is definitely reasonable as it relates to cost in Iceland.  The cost for one child and an adult was $266.00 with round trip transportation which is exceptional.  Many tours in Iceland can be costly and intense so I definitely enjoyed that this adventure was not as difficult as was the boat ride to see the whales and puffins.  I definitely appreciated a journey that was calm and easy.  Prior to departure the staff took a few moments to explain the process, talked about safety while riding, and off we went for our journey through the beautiful Icelandic landscape.  We had an opportunity to take photos once we reached the red lava rocks which truly captured the moment well.  If you desire to take a ride on an Icelandic horse that is not difficult  I would definitely recommend Solhestar to expose you to a memorable and personal experience with an Icelandic horse.
