Food walking tour - good value and great experience. - Really good 3-4 hours with Stefan who was an amusing, informative, knowledgeable guide. Tried lots of different Icelandic food including smoked lamb, salmon, traditional lamb soup, famous hot dogs, salted cod and a few other surprises. It was fun, filling, fulfilling and good value. Great way to see something of Reykjavik and learn about Icelandic people, their culture and their food. Especially good for solo travellers. Do it!

A fun way to learn about Iceland and its culture - Our guide, Bo, told us about Iceland and the food as we went to several different restaurants. We tried smoked salmon on Icelandic rye bread, smoked lamb puree at the first restaurant, then the lamb/pork hotdogs that are so well known, we tried dried fish and licorice and jams at a gourmet food shop, Icelandic soup, cod on potato cakes, Skyr, and more. Definitely a fun, worthwhile tour.

Wonderful introduction to Icelandic cuisine - What a fun way to learn more about Icelandic culture and experience some delicious and interesting foods. Bo was a wonderful guide, providing interesting background on Icelandic agriculture, fishing, and culture. We enjoyed trying cod, Gravlik salmon lamb tartare, the best rye bread (!), lamb soup, lamb hotdog, various jams, fish jerky, salmon crackers, skyr with blueberries dessert, chocolate licorice bars and licorice. The highlight (?!) was trying fermented shark with Brennevin liquor! Not for the faint of heart! A fun 3 hour tour of downtown Reykjavic for foodies.

Amazing and unique experience - During our food tour, we sampled hangikjöt, which is cold oven-smoked lamb. The fuel used for smoking is dried sheep dung, placed on the oven floor. Our culinary adventure included cured salmon served on goat cheese and sweet beet root bread. I declined to taste the traditional Icelandic delicacy of fermented shark bites, Hakarl. No thank you. We ended the evening with a shot of Brennivin, better known as “Black Death”, the Icelandic’s distinctive spirit. Loosely referred to as potato wine.
