The desolate trail known as Desolation Pass is a historical 13-kilometer journey that traverses through the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. Initially utilized by the Huilliches, and later adopted by the Jesuits, it served as a passageway connecting Lake Llanquihue and Lake Todos Los Santos, nestled between the Osorno volcano and the Picada hill.
Spectacular panoramic vistas of the Osorno and Tronador volcanoes, La Picada hill, Todos Los Santos lake, and Margarita Island are abundant along this path. The scenic route offers a varied tapestry of landscapes and ecosystems, transitioning from volcanic slag piles to lush forests.
