What a delight - What a fabulous city. Whatever you do, take a tour or walk on your own you will have a great time. There is age and beauty in so much of this city's architecture. We had a historical and cultural tour so we got to hear a lot of the history of the city from Irwin our guide such a nice man who imparted his knowledge from the moment we got on the coach to the end. Amazing place!

Antigua Walking Tour - Good Narrated Tour by Erwin - Really Well Delivered - After arrival at Antigua we joined Erwin for the 90 minute narrated tour around Colonial Antigua visiting many Cathedrals, churches and whole range of squares and interesting monuments. It really set a good tone for the day with this tour well worth the extra. We had about 30 people on this part of the tour and covered a lot of ground with many interesting photo opportunities and finished with a reasonable lunch at one of the small restaurants near the new hotel. Erwin was good at givig the history of each of the areas visited and brought to life the history and culture of this ancient city in past times.

Interesting Architecture but bothersome vendors - Antigua contains wonderful Spanish Colonial architecture. It was a rather long bus ride from Puerto Quetzal. While I understand that the inhabitants rely on tourist dollars for their livelihood, I'd rather not be pestered to buy the same junk every five feet by the most persistent and annoying street vendors ever.
