Great tour, wonderful company to work with, a great alternative to typical shore-ex tours. - This is an excellent city tour run by a small company that is very professional and supportive. We were able to book the tour and communicate with Rosario thru whatsapp, because there was some uncertainty about our actual docking time at Taino Bay. No problem. We received a wonderful, very personal tour, saw all the sights advertised for Puerto Plata, felt very comfortable throughout. Mara was an excellent, knowledgeable guide, and Rosario drove our van. It was a very enjoyable morning experience, highly recommended. We met them just outside the port, so allow for a 10-15 minute walk, because it's a bit larger than expected, with shops, restaurants, tiki bars, swimming places, and exhibits.

Such an amazing day! - My daughter & I had so much fun with our guides Elizabeth & Miguel yesterday! They were so nice & very friendly, they made us feel right at home! They provided us with ice cold bottled water to cool us off, after each stop because it was very hot and humid. We were able to see so much of the island in the short amount of time we had to explore. First, we went to the Rum Factory and learned how they make the rum, then we headed to umbrella street and then Pink street where there was an adorable little monkey that my daughter held and we took some beautiful pictures. Then, we stopped by the cathedral and took some photos. After that we stopped by a beautiful jewelry store, and then, the chocolate factory where we learned how they make their chocolate and cocoa butters, etc. We got to sample some delicious chocolate and got some beautiful souvenirs to bring home to our friends and family. Next, we headed to the beach, where we rented an umbrella and chairs and had lunch right there on the sand with some very nice local folks! We were gifted beautiful anklets from one of the sweetest vendors, named Gina in booth number 25. She has some beautiful handmade jewelry and other items there for sale. We bought a gorgeous Larimar necklace! There was a very nice man who made my daughter a beautiful bracelet with her name on it out of yarn, right on the beach by hand in less than 20 minutes. The last stop was at a local restaurant called Empanadas Grill and we got to experience some authentic empanadas, they were so delicious! We made it back to Amber Cove with plenty of time to spare and we were able to walk around and enjoy the shops there in the port and take some pictures at the different locations they have there. All in all, I’d rate this experience 10 out of 10! If you’re ever in the area and want to explore the island, book with Elizabeth & Miguel! You won’t regret it!!!

Guide and driver were great - Rainy day. I wound up being the only person on the trip. Despite this I got the full tour with cheerful guide. Vvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

BOOK THIS! Best Cruise Tour - Excellent Value with Mr. Rosario at DSRR! - Our group of 2 couples booked this tour thru Viator, with pick up at Amber Cove port (where our cruise ship docked). The tour company is DSRR ExceptCust Tours, headed by Mr. Rosario. I would book with DSRR again and again. They truly exemplify "customer first"! Excellent value; friendly, professional, accommodating staff; comprehensive tour of Puerto Plata City. Owner Rosario, our tour guide Mara, and our van driver clearly wanted to please us in every way possible. They gave clear directions on when and where to meet after leaving the ship. Mara was cheerful, knowledgeable, fun, and sincerely desired to share her love of her country with each of us. Admission prices were included in our tour price, including ALL of these stops: Macorix House of Rum, Cathedral of St. Philip, Paseo de Dona Blanca (pink alley), playing dominoes with Mara at Umbrella Street Bar 1920, complimentary beverages in the DSRR van, Del Oro Chocolate Factory, Fort San Felipe, and local shops. Mara and Rosario made sure we returned to our ship in ample time before its departure from Amber Cove. Highest recommendation!

Mara makes a city tour fun - Host Mara and driver Rosario made all the difference. Informative and fun. I would definitely not want to be driving here.

Great Tour and Friendly Staff - Lilo and Mara were amazing tour guides!!! They were so friendly and helpful and provided drinks for us in the van. My husband and I were brought to the front of the line of the tours for the rum factory and chocolate factory. During the tour to see the umbrella street, Mara took us to experience one of the local favs...playing dominoes! It was such a great experience for my husband and I as we enjoyed every minute of our tour. Thank you Lilo and Mara for such a great day and til we see you again!!!

Great tour of Puerto Plata - This ended up being one of our favorite tours. It was just our family of four in their tour van. Not a large bus like usual but a smaller van which was perfect. They provided wifi, drinks and of course ac. You walk past the other tours winding down past taxis. They took us to all the listed areas but then added a few personal touches you won’t get with a large group. Asking if we wanted to learn to play dominoes and then asking my son if he wanted to dance with one of the dancers on umbrella street. Mara and the driver took care us, watching out for us. Never rushing. We appreciate this day so much. Thank you

Safe, informative and flexible itinerary. - Excellent tour. Guide Mara and Driver Miguel were fantastic. They were dependable and took us all around Porto Plata after picking us up from amber cove. They were flexible and open to any adjustments in tour itinerary if we were not interested in something. DR driving can be crazy but always felt safe and comfortable with Miguel driving us around. We booked expecting a big group but it was just our small family of 3 for a nice personal tour. It was much cheaper than any options booking directly with cruise ship.

Great alternative to expensive cruise excursion - This was a great shore excursion from start to finish. A great alternative to overpriced cruise line excursions that basically covered all the same sights at an affordable price for our group of 5. The directions to the meeting point were perfect. And the small group size meant we basically had a private tour guide. I would d definitely use this tour company again. Do not hesitate to use them for your shore excursions in Puerto Plata. Rosario, Mara and Jennifer were amazing!
