Highlights
- Carretera Austral / Entrada Metri - We’ll start by heading towards “Carretera Austral” where after driving 20 minutes along the coastline you will have arrived at the local home for the cooking class. Once at the home, you will try “kuchen” a typical pastry of the south of Chile with some coffee or tea. Then we’ll start off with the cooking class: you’ll make two different kinds of empanadas, both the dough and the fillings from scratch. We’ll make a short break where you’ll get to try a typical picada, consisting of a salami and cheese platter with Pisco Sour. Then you’ll learn how to make (and flip!) Chilean style dulce de leche pancakes, which we’ll enjoy for dessert. Finally, once we’ve finished with the cooking, we’ll sit around the table to enjoy the meal you’ve made, paired with Chilean red wine and great conversation. A local cook will accompany you on each and every step of the way, showing you the proper techniques and explaining a little bit of the history of the dishes and the different culinary traditions in the country. A fully hands-on experience!

Fun day in Puerto Montt making empanadas - We did this tour on our South America Cruise and it was such a fun day. Veronica opened her home to us and treated us so well. Come hungry..it’s not just empanadas! Of course the highlight was making and eating our empanadas.
Her home is right on the ocean so beautiful views. She loves to tell you about her country and area.
There were 6 of us and that was perfect size.

Best Excursion of our trip - Wow!! Just wow. This was a highlight of our entire trip. What a wonderful day spent on the beach. We were fed, pampered, and taught how to cook empanadas. I cannot say enough good things about this tour, this was the final port day of our 2 week cruise, and it was simply fabulous.

Culture and hospitality with flavor! - The hospitality of this excursion was exceptional. We were made comfortable immediately and felt like one of the family. We learned about the area and the country while sharing a delicious dessert and coffee. We learned how to make sopaipillas and empanadas, taking part in the the rolling and filling, and finally eating. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. We walked the beach and enjoyed seeing dolphin, swans, seabirds, fishermen throwing their nets, and the beautiful scenery and wildflowers of the area. This was by far the most relaxing excursion of our 15 day trip. I highly recommend this unique spin on local culture.

Loved it!!! - We loved this experience. Veronica gave us a wonderful day. We ate wonderful food, had wine/pisco sours and made empanadas that were fun to make and so good. This is a must do for sure!!!

Horrible customer service. - They had horrible customer service. They notified us several weeks ago that unless they got another confirmed couple booking from our ship they would have to cancel. The problem is that they made themselves unavailable for the day we were scheduled. We had two different couples that also tried to book for our day. I’ve messaged them twice to ask if the class was still booked and had no response. TA charges us 2 days ago so I was hopeful and then today we were notified by TA it was canceled. Very frustrating, we are now in port tomorrow with nothing scheduled and ship excursions sold
