This excursion is ideally suited for newcomers to the island or those who wish to experience a few hours of road biking. You’ll have the opportunity to get a feel for what it’s like to scale a genuine mountain and understand the challenges of short stretches with a steepness of 5-15%.
We’ll start our journey from Puerto de la Cruz and embark on a 7km climb up to the Humboldt Observatory plateau. You can enjoy incredible views of the valley, PDC, and the Atlantic Ocean from there. We then move through the historic section of Orotava village and over the Orotava Valley before tackling a 5km ascent to another breathtaking viewpoint. From this point, we’ll make our way back to La Orotava and PDC.
The entire ride spans 45km and involves a 1000mt climb.
Please note that the cost does not include the bike.
Our guide will reach out to you with choices for bikes, pedal types, sizes and so forth.
Our bicycle costs are as follows:
Aluminium €26, Carbon €32, Carbon with disc brakes €36

A good experience with flexibility from Road Base - I had originally booked the ride with a road bike, but quickly realised on the day that I was going to be more confortable with a mountain/hybrid bike (as that's what I am used to), so I was able to switch.
We took off, then shortly afterward returned to switch to an e-bike!
It was a bit embarassing, but I just didn't have the fitness to handle to steep climbs around Puerto de la Cruz these days.
Jesper was cool about it and we restarted the trip on e-bikes.
It was a great day for the ride and the views rewarded the effort.
Tip: if you aren't accustomed to hill climbing, then strongly consider an e-bike.

E Biking to Punto Del Teno - We booked a day trip from Puerto to Punto Teno. It was a great cycle trip along the coast with Jesper our guide. Amazing views in an unspoiled area. We were very glad we had an e-bike as the road was quite undulating. We had a great stop in a small cafe in Buenavista and great views at the Punta Teno Lighthouse. Highly recommended !

Lovely tour, lovely tour guide - great experience! - I'm not a very strong hill rider but Jesper stayed with me and chatted, giving me pointers on up and downhills. The route was beautiful and the roads are so smooth it's almost addictive.
Next time, we climb even more!

Bike hire/guided tour - Chose this company because of the email correspondence before we left home. Answered all our quesrltion quickly and accurately. On arrive they were very friendly. We chose the half day ride warning wifey was slow up hill. Alberto was our guide and did a great job looking after her. At the same time giving us information about the island. He was very cautious about safety information about the downhills, you could feel his panic when he realised we're both descenders.
The bikes were capable of any assents/decents thrown at them.
Day 2 I went up the volcano without wifey. I used a lower spec bike than day 1, it was a little heavier but I actually found it really comfortable.
Would I use them again... you bet I would, very enthusiastic. Pretty sure they can cater for several languages between them.

Fun 70k ride with Jesper around the gorgeous Orotava valley - We talked about a few route options in the shop then decided to do this one. The cycling was really nice. Some of the great things about using a guide are that 1) you don't get lost, 2) seeking out the best tarmac, and 3) local knowledge on where the Danish pastry shops are.
Tenerife can be really hilly. As we were a group of mixed fitness we did this ride on a mixture of road bikes and e-bikes - so it was great that they are all available for hire and we could all ride together and all get a decent workout.
5/5 would use again.

Great choice for Road Bike Riding in Teneriffa - Excellent tours given by Jesper and the knows bets places for good coffee and sweets. Great instructions while you are riding with him and always afraid to hair (getting a bit nasty know) which means it is getting steep :-).

Great Christmas Spin with Jesper - Had a great Christmas spin with Jesper. We did 60k and 1300 m of climbing. All at my pace and I never felt under any pressure. Puerto de la cruz was a great base. The Ridebase shop is well located and I found pricing very reasonable. Thanks again Jesper and hope to see you in the not too distant future.
