The myth and the test … amplified by astounding descents and unrivaled scenic outlooks … this is the perfect journey for biking enthusiasts pursuing steep ascensions and iconic routes, epitomizing cycling around Lake Como. Begin with an ascent of Ghisallo, a climb that requires no introduction, and then brace yourself for the formidable Muro di Sormano … ‘the WALL’! At 1.8km, with an 18% average slope and a maximum of 25%, it holds the title for the most difficult cycle route globally! As you ascend, keep your eyes on the road markers indicating the altitude every meter. For three years, from 1960 to 1962, Muro was part of the Giro di Lombardia, after which it was deserted for five decades as it proved increasingly difficult … even for seasoned professionals! However, since 2012, the Muro has been reintroduced to the race. It’s an essential experience! Give it a shot! No stopping allowed!
