Drive to Pokhara (900 m) in a Tourist Bus - 7 hours

Pokhara - Our trekking staff will pick you up at the hotel at 6:30 am and escort you to the tourist bus station. The bus to Pokhara leaves at around 7:30 am. A beautiful valley set on the banks of the Phewa Lake, Pokhara is also known for its panoramic views of Annapurna and Machapuchare (shape of fish tail) in the north, Dhaulagiri in the west and Lamjung Himal and Manaslu in the east. It is smaller and much less hectic than Kathmandu, hence providing the perfect starting point for our trek.

Drive to Nayapul (1,010 m) and Trek to Tikhedunga (1,570 m) - 4 hours

Naya Pul - We begin our trek at Nayapul after a hour drive on a private vehicle from Pokhara. After a short 15-minute walk along the banks of the Modi Khola, we reach Birethanti (1,015 m), a large village with many shops and teahouses. From there, the trail continues through the village and follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. The trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley to Hille at 1,495 m. After a short climb, we reach Tikhedhunga at 1,570 m. Today’s walk is relatively short and easy, a prelude to the trekking experience in the Annapurna region.

Trek to Ghorepani (2,840 m) - 5 hours

Ghode Pani - We move on towards the steep climb to Ulleri, a large Magar village at an altitude of 2,070 m. The trail ascends more gently from this point, through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons, towards Banthanti at 2,250 m. Then we trek towards Nangethanti at 2,460 m. After an hour walk we arrive at Ghorepani (2,840 m).

Hike up to Poon Hill (3,210 m) and Trek to Tadapani (2,610 m) - 7 hours

Poon Hill - Today, very early in the morning, we start an hour hiking to Poon Hill at an elevation of 3,210 m, a brilliant mountain range spectacle; this vantage point provides an unobstructed view of the sunrise over the high Himalayas. There we spend about 1 hour and returning to Ghorepani, we take a hot breakfast. Then we make a climb along ridges, and through pine and rhododendron forests, towards Deurali (2,960 m). After that, we descend to the Banthanti, then turn off to Tadapani.

Trek to Ghandruk (1,940 m) - 4 hours

Ghandruk - From Tadapani the trail descends through forests to Ghandruk, a village of Gurung people, one of the ethnic groups of Nepal. They have their own dialect, culture, costume, and lifestyle. Ghandruk is also home to many Gurkha soldiers. It is a famous destination for trekkers as it is known for its beautiful mountain views and also because it is within easy reach from Pokhara and Kathmandu. We have the afternoon to visit Annapurna Conservation Office and museums and explore the village.

Trek to Nayapul (1,010 m) and Drive to Pokhara - 5 hours

Naya Pul - Today, we are going to end our trek at Nayapul followed by a short drive back to Pokhara. After reaching Pokhara, you can have a relaxing afternoon and take some stroll around the lake side.

Drive Back to Kathmandu (1,400 m) - 7 hours

Kathmandu - We will be driving back to Kathmandu in the morning.

If you are interested in extending the trip, there are many options such as Chitwan jungle safari, river rafting adventure, Kathmandu shopping tour, mountain biking and other activities.

Thank you Sushanta! - We had such an amazing time on our trek, which Ace the Himalaya made so easy. Getting up that close to such enormous mountains was an unforgettable experience. Ace made the whole experience zero stress by organising absolutely everything we needed, and always responded to our needs with great communication throughout. Our guide Sushanta was brilliant. He was such a friendly guy and consistently went the extra mile to get us things like the best rooms in teahouses. His experience and relationships with the local people really came in handy. We learned so much about the mountains and Nepal from him. Our porter Indra was also great, helping us have a surprisingly comfortable experience in the mountains. I really wouldn't hesitate in booking another trek with Ace the Himalaya, for what we paid I felt the service was exceptional all round. Things constantly surprised me like the quality of hotels we stayed in and how good the food we ate was. We also learned so much about Nepal from Sushanta which made the trip feel rounded and special. We will never forget our time in this amazing country!

Amazing trek with Pasang - When I got the opportunity to come back to Nepal in February 2024 just three months after my last visit, I knew I had to use the chance for another trek with Ace the Himalaya. And yet again, the trek was phenomenal! After completing Everest Basecamp last time, I decided to trek in the Annapurna region, the shorter but no less great Ghorepani Poon Hill trek with its amazing views. Sujan from the Ace front office and Pasang, the guide from my last trek, helped me with the decision process and to adapt the trek to my timeframe and preferences. Since the road to Pokhara, where the trek starts, is under construction, I decided to fly there by plane - a decision I can definitely recommend to anyone and that should almost be included in the standard package for the trek. As he is one of the most experienced guides at Ace, I knew that Pasang would be in high demand for many groups looking to experience the beautiful mountain treks in Nepal. But luckily, because it was just before the start of the season, I managed to get him as guide for my solo trek. Pasang and his team made sure I got the best experience of the 4-5 days of trekking and when I mentioned how much I enjoyed Pokhara itself, adapted the trek so that I had more time to spend there. For anyone thinking about trekking in Nepal, I would definitely recommend going with Ace and even asking for Pasang as guide, whether it’s solo, a small group or big one. You will have a great experience!

Fantastic experience worth the effort! - The trek was amazing, though more strenuous than expected. But the fantastic views on Poon Hill at sunrise made the effort worthwhile. We recommend to do the trek in clockwise direction. Shaym was our very experienced and attentive guide. We can recommend him very much. All lodges and the food exeeded our expectations.

phantastic and outstanding experience in grandiose nature - Our Lodge Trekking led us form Pokhara to Poon Hill, to Tatopani and Muktinath. We experienced phantastic, breath-taking and beautiful landscapes, the peaceful coexistence of Hindu and Buddhist people, their richness of spiritual and religious culture and history. To have a bath in hot sources (Tatopani) in one of the deepest gorges of the world (Kali Gandaki) and wandering in unbelievable silence amidst some of the highest mountains in the world (Daulaghiri / Annapurna) the days after was most exiting. Our guide Shyam Raj Kharel guided us with attentiveness, carefulness, kindness and a wonderful sense of humour. He had a very good knowledge of the region, adapted very well to our rhythm and managed the only somehow difficult medical situation calmly and professionaly. Both Shyam and our porter Dilip Shresta were very reliable and attended to us. Dilip carried our luggage with equanimity, kindness and assisted with attentiveness. With these two guys we felt safe and in good hands. That’s why we could enjoy this outstanding trekking to the fullest. The whole journey was perfectly organized and enriched us in many unexpected ways.
