Best day trip to learn it all - Fantastic tour of the whole Island of Sao Miguel! One of the most informative and memorable tours we have ever taken… local guide Sam is the local to see for a truly wonderful experience!

A Wonderful Day! - We met Sam on a city tour of Ponta Delgado booked with another company. While the group walked around a botanical garden, I stopped to ask him about the Azores becoming autonomous, its history, the Portuguese language, anything I could think of. He was so personable and interesting, it was a mini-class. When he said he gave private tours with his own company, we jumped at the chance to take a day trip with him. The day was absolutely wonderful! We visited Furnas and went to the hot springs. We went to the place where people bury pots of food that cook with volcanic heat (see photos), we saw breathtaking views, had a delicious lunch, went to a tea factory, and had a fantastic time. Sam is a superlative tour guide. We spent the day talking like new friends, about all the sights , but also about the environment, geography, volcanoes, life in the Azores (he is a native, after all), the economy, politics, his life, our lives, and he answered any question we could think of. It was fascinating and great fun! We have traveled all over the world, and certainly taken a good number of tours. This one will always be extra memorable. I’m sure any tour with Sam would be the same.

Wonderful tour and guide - We had a wonderful time and learned so much! The views are amazing and our guide was very helpful with taking us to the must-see places and he was very knowledgeable. I also appreciated that he is a local. Our guide was very accommodating and kind. It was an all day tour but there was so much to see and explore.

Sao Miguel island of paradise - Our tour was on June 2023. The day was overcast with & on & off rain showers. The tour was beyond our expectations. Weather did not dampen our spirits. Our guide was Samuel, who is well knowledge, he had interesting stories and was able to answer all of our questions.

Great day Samuel. - Samuel was awesome. We told him we were on a tour a few a days before. He asked the places we saw and went above and beyond to ensure my sister and I didn’t see the same exact things. Full Day Tour - This was an amazing tour. Samuel was very nice and explained everything very well. Could not believe that we saw all sides of the island in one day!

Wonderful introduction to Sao Miguel - This was a really first rate experience. Samuel was a personable, friendly, extremely knowledgeable guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with him. He adjusted his usual itinerary due to the rainy day to allow us to see as many of the major sights as possible in the morning because the afternoon forecast was not promising. He worked really hard to get us to as many interesting locations as possible without making us feel rushed or that he was compromising our experience in any way. Samuel combined lots of historical and current information with insights into the current state of affairs on Sao Miguel and the Azores. He is an exceptional guide and we would love to tour with him again.

Ask for Samuel!!! - I cannot speak highly enough of Samuel - he is truly the ultimate tour guide! Knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating and genuine. The weather on the day of our tour was not exactly stellar and presented some viewing challenges. Despite this, Samuel’s experience enabled him to expertly navigate the varying weather conditions which afforded us the best possible sightseeing tour. He was absolutely determined to provide us the best possible experience. It was a memorable day that my friend and I will never forget! Thank you Samuel! :)

A wonderful introduction to the Azores! - Samuel was an amazing tour guide! Knowledgeable, kind, funny, flexible (our party ranged from a 5 year to a 77 year old), expert navigator of tight curves and parking spots, and very proud of his beautiful home. We had an amazing time (we saw Sete Cidades, Furnas, the pineapple plantation, and many other beautiful spots over 1.5 days), and only wish we'd had more time to see more with him. Highly recommend vs. renting a car on your own, especially for a larger party.
