In the Douro Valley, you can take in the spectacular landscapes on an hour-long journey down the river on the traditional rabelo boat, if you choose to do so. Alternatively, you have the option to immerse yourself entirely in the local culture, interacting with the villagers and exploring the network of charming streets, possibly forgoing the river cruise.

MUST DO IN PORTO - This was our first time in Portugal and booked this tour last minute. We weren’t sure what to expect, as there are so many options to choose from. This tour far exceeded our expectations! Our tour guide, Alex was kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. The drive is lengthy, and winding, but speaking to Alex made it feel like you were traveling with an old friend. The boat cruise on the Douro River is lovely if selected (it’s important to note this is not a private boat, you are with a larger group than your group of 8) The wineries included in the tour were phenomenal. Each unique in their own style. We also stopped for lunch at a local restaurant for a traditional Portuguese lunch and it was so lovely. Tons of food options, water, wine, and espresso. The whole experience is a MUST DO, and I credit most of the fabulous experience to our guide Alex for being so engaging and knowledgeable.

A wonderful adventure in the Douro Valley! - We spent the most wonderful day with Violeta! She was so fun and knowledgeable, both about winemaking and the history of the region.
We particularly enjoyed the first vineyard, Quinta do Cume. Its whites were simply out of this world.
Overall, we highly recommend!

Best. Tour. Ever. - This fantastic tour far exceeded our expectations. Maria was brilliant in giving us a constant stream of great information all day. The wineries were perfect, and the small group (6) was the perfect size to enjoy it all. Two wineries, an amazing lunch, boat ride, and spectacular scenery resulted in a perfect day.

Do it!! No regrets! - By far one of the best tours we have ever done! Violeta was an amazing guide! It felt more like she was part of our family.
She was early for our pick up and drove is to Douro Valley where we hopped on the boat for our river cruise. It was mighty cold, but did not take away from the impressive scenery.
Then we were off to the first winery. We absolutely loved the wines, all of them! This tour company deals with smaller, family owned estates, making the experience more personal and the wines more enjoyable.
Off to lunch... wow,a lot of food! We don't usually eat that much, but everything was delicious.
Our last stop was at another winery for ports. Our appreciation for ports has certainly increased.
Violeta returned us safely to our meeting spot. She was amazing from start to finish.
Oops, I even left my sunglasses in the car and, on a day she did not have tours, went and retrieved them for me and delivered them to me!

Cozy, wonderful experience! - We did the tour in Spanish with María. It was excellent. We had booked for two, and that day there were no other reservations so they made the tour equally private for us! (It wasn't cancelled!)
Maria looked for us at the hotel, she arrived 10 minutes before the pick up we had agreed to, we went to a winery with a beautiful view, where they explained the process of making wine to us and we tasted wines, and also olive oil and honey! Then we went to lunch at a local restaurant. The food was super abundant, very delicious, it included coffee, free drink, dessert, starters and several main dishes with their sides. For me, eating well was important, since we were going to be doing the tour and drinking alcohol all day.
Then we went to another organic port winery. We tried white and red port wines, several too! Many new flavors.
Since we were celebrating my birthday that day, María brought a candle with her and they sang me happy birthday on an improvised cake :), and they also gave us olive oil to try there too.
María took care of us all day, and was super attentive to us. When we finished the tour he also offered to take us back to the hotel.
If you're not looking for something massive, this tour is the one!

Fabulous trip with Violeta! - Don’t bother with any of the other tour companies, no offense. If you want a a small group and an awesome guide it would be Violeta.
She’s bubbly, funny, knows the history and area well and really made the trip very enjoyable.
Can’t recommend her and this company enough!

Not as advertised - The tour was fine but not as advertised. We paid more for a small group but we're just thrown on a large boat tour our guide didn't even attend with us.
