Solar trip - no noise or smell - We went to the meeting point in the booking only to find that wasn't where we should be. The helpful lady at the Tourist Information Office gave us directions down to the water to find our boat. Make sure you have time to get to the right starting point. We were greeted by David and Fabiana who were both really friendly and welcoming. It wasn't the greatest weather so the boat had a clear plastic covering so you could stay dry and warm without spoiling the view. They also had warm blankets available for everyone. We were lucky enough to have only 4 passengers so had plenty of space to spread out. It's never a bad start at 10.30 in the morning to be asked whether we wanted red or white wine. Both were from a local collective. We had one on the first leg of the trip and a white port on the return leg. We all agreed it was better than previous white ports we had tried. Our trip was uneventful with David giving us some history of everything we were seeing and answering our questions. We all agreed the advantages of a solar boat were no fumes or noise which enhanced the experience considerably. Having spent 2 hours on a train travelling to Pinhao we were unsure if the tour would show us anything more but we went further upstream and all walked away with additional knowledge of the area and were happy having had the experience.

Special & RELAXING boat tour to learn more about Pinhão & wine production. - Very friendly staff and very accommodating for us. They even had blankets since it was cold. The boat is new and clean and the entire tour was relaxing and calm. We had a charming tour and would recommend for anyone! Thank you!

Serene Boat Tour with Wine Tasting - Must Try - We are so glad we picked this Solar Boat over traditional diesel engine boats. (Quiet and Serene) The electric boat tour through Douro Valley's wineries with David was fantastic. Cruising the quiet river without any loud engines allowed us to truly appreciate the stunning vineyard scenery. David was extremely friendly and shared great insights into the region's heritage as we passed by charming quintas and villages. Such a peaceful, eco-friendly way to experience one of Portugal's most beautiful wine areas. Highly recommend this tour for a serene afternoon on the Douro. Since we went during off season, it was just my partner and me on what felt like a very romantic private tour.

Best way to explore the Douro! - Rather than tg costly crowded tours from Porto, we took the train to Pinhão, then this boat. Great combination - the train hugs the river offering spectacular views and then the intimate boat trip with David’s and Maria. Fascinating landscape and river. Beautiful, quiet solar electric boat. Wonderful guides. And lovely port and muscatel. Don’t miss this one!

Wonderful solar powered Douro river boat trip with great hosts - The Douro river boat trip with brother and sister David and Maria was absolutely marvelous. We were there on a quiet Saturday morning in January and had the whole boat to ourselves. Normally the maximum group size is 10 guests. The boat itself is solar power driven and completely silent. Maria and David are wonderful hosts and tour guides. They grew up in this region and know a lot about the history, the wineries and the wines and are happy to share their knowledge. During the trip they serve two very nice different wines from a local producer, which we complemented with their cheese and ham board. All products (cheese, ham, bread, olives and almonds) are from local producers and taste deliciously. We highly recommend this boat trip if you visit the area.
