Exploring the Doura wine region - We booked a tour with Gustavo to the Doura wine region and I can honestly say it was fantastic from start to finish…. Gustavo was very good at sharing lots of information with us and knows the best spots to take you… we also stopped for a fabulous lunch and most of the day we were away from the main tourist haunts, surrounded by incredible scenery and tasting wonderful wines… Gustavo definitely went out of his way to ensure we had the best time… so what’s not to like! Big thanks, and we can totally recommend our tour to anybody thinking about it!

Daytrip in the Douro Valley - Gustavo is an excellent private guide. We went right through the Douro Valley mainly on roads off the beaten track. Gustavo is a wealth of knowledge about the history and the ways of wine production. Our stops where informative and the tastings well considered. Lunch was a revelation and included a special off menu surprise made to Gustavo's order! The restaurant was a small family run operation with an outstanding wine list. Our last tasting was at a friends of Gustavo's and the ports were sublime. I thoroughly recommend a trip with Gustavo and you will finish enriched with the sights and flavours of the valley and a good knowledge of all thing Port.

Full day adventure with Andre, cafe, small villages, beautiful sights, port tour, boat ride. Well cared for - André was excellent. Punctual, great not only of the area, but of the wines and port. Our stops were perfect. Snack and coffee at cafe. He ensured to have all of our stops well planned. This was our first adventure using with locals, we would do again.

A Day in the Douro Valley with Gustavo - My Mom and I were so excited to do a Douro Valley tour, and decided a private personalized experience is what we wanted. We chose Gustavo based on his many excellent reviews, and are SO glad we did. He was amazing the entire day! He picked us up near our Airbnb, drove to some great lookout points, explaining things about the vineyards along the way. We went to 3 tastings (including one where we had the place completely to ourselves), and a delicious lunch. Gustavo was a pleasure to be with, he’s extremely knowledgeable, and a great guide who gave us a tailor made experience. He even gave us help with activities and itinerary for the rest of our stay in Porto. We highly recommend choosing him, you won’t be disappointed.

Duoro valley day - Orlando picked us up at our airbnb and we were off on a full day adventure. We saw many local sights we would have missed without his expertise. The two wineries he selected for us to visit were both very nice. He customized the tour and asked pertinent questions to make our day in the Douro area a day that will give us a lifetime experience.

A fantastic day touring the Douro Valley with Rui - We were interested in a small group tour of the Douro valley, and decided to splurge on a private tour, picking Rui as our guide. It was a fantastic experience. He arrived at our hotel to pick us up at 9 am, and promptly departed for the Douro valley. It was quite foggy so he took smaller more scenic roads, which took a few hours. Rui had a wealth of knowledge about the Douro valley, wine and port making and general information about Portugal and the conversation was easy and plentiful. The views he showed us were amazing. For a change of pace, he secured us a spot on a smaller river boat which took us on a brief ride up the river and back, to allow us to appreciate the vineyards from a different vantage point. Following the cruise, we stopped for lunch at a very nice restaurant. Then it was on for some more touring by car until our scheduled wine tasting at an estate port wine producer. Their selections of olive oil,a vintage white wine, a vintage red wine, a 10 year white port and a 20 year tawny port were all delicious. We then returned to Porto. It was a wonderful day, and we can’t say enough good things about Rui. We couldn’t believe we had spent ten hours together with him.

Unique, off the beaten path experience! - We can not say enough about our wonderful day with Anselmo in the Douro Valley! It was pouring rain in Porto the morning of our tour & the forecast was no better; on top of that , my husband was fighting a bit of a cold. I called Anselmo to say we didn’t think conditions were right for our planned tour but he explained that conditions in the Duoro Valley would still allow us to enjoy most everything he had planned for our day. We put our faith in his knowledge & ability to mix up the schedule, as needed, with which he recommended a second winery in place of a river boat ride & we were totally on board with that. At the end of our wonderful adventure we reflected on how we almost canceled… and, WOW, we sure were happy Anselmo talked us into keeping our plans! What an INCREDIBLE day! When we arrived in the area, Anselmo pulled over & showed us two types of different vines/grapes & shared knowledge from Roman times to the present; he took us to beautiful lookouts & told stories about the valley & structures. When the sun poked out, he pulled over so we could get some pretty pictures with the blue sky. He took us to places where buses can not go—down narrow twisting, winding roads with one amazing view after another! We stopped in a remote, very small town as church was getting out (a Sunday) and we were able to go in. Wow! Just Wow! Then we enjoyed a fresh Nata Pastry Anselmo had brought for us, with a coffee, in a charming coffee shop/bar. He also treated us to some ‘Farmer’s Port’ which was delicious & also soothing to Rob’s throat. We then visited two beautiful wineries that showed the differences between a small, charming family operation vs a larger, luxury operation. We had a delicious & lovely lunch at the larger of the two, with several glasses of white & red table wine & a lovely port with dessert. Anselmo was friendly and funny, too! We felt as if we were making a new friend throughout the day as we got to know each other. We still can not believe we almost let the weather stop us from this very fun, truly memorable day! Thank you, Anselmo, for encouraging us to trust your knowledge & experience. Even if the sun had not come out for the second half of the day, we would have truly enjoyed our day with you!

Such a Perfect Day! - Our day in Douro Valley with Gustavo could not have been more perfect. If you want an exclusive experience that is above and beyond don’t hesitate to book with Gustavo. We took the road less traveled and avoided the crowds We visited two beautiful vineyards, one we had all to ourselves. Gustavo is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about wine. Our lunch was at a local restaurant and we were treated like family. We drank some amazing wine and enjoyed a delicious fresh farm to table meal. Word of advice; if Gustavo says trust him, follow his advice. He knows what he’s doing and you will have a brilliant time. Cheers!

Unforgettable trip to the valley! - Could not speak highly enough of Anselmo, every part of the tour was so personalized and executed perfectly. He even helped us plan a marriage proposal. Absolutely the highlight of our trip!

Andre was so wonderful! - Andre was so awesome, such an ideal guide to be with. Super knowledgeable with everything Portugal and enthusiastic to show and share it. He was like a long lost friend, took us under his wings, and had a time of our life. My mom and I very much enjoyed his company and his cool car. We hope to see him again someday.
