The Ouzoud Waterfalls hold the title for being Azilal’s most frequented site, attracting both local inhabitants and tourists. They’re cited as Morocco’s most stunning natural spectacle, annually drawing numerous visitors who come to bask in the revitalizing waters and remarkable landscapes. The name ‘Ouzoud’ translates to ‘olives’, a suitable name given the multitude of olive trees scattered along the riverbank. The waterfalls of Ouzoud can reach heights of up to 110 metres, with the tallest waterfall elegantly splitting into two smaller falls, thereby creating a series of waterfalls and pools that tumble into the ravine. Several antique concrete mills are still utilized near the waterfalls, harnessing the river’s force to transform wheat into flour.
