Highlights
  • Vulkan Neighbourhood - Our experience starts in Vulkan, which is also called Oslo’s sustainable laboratory and it is a home for the first food hall in Oslo, the Mathallen.

This will also be our final station so don’t worry, you will have plenty of time to explore the area and maybe taste some more of the local treats in Mathallen after the tour!

  • Syverkiosken - It’s time to move towards an absolutely unique hidden gem - the oldest sausage stand in Oslo that sells sausages for more than 40 years! You will learn a bit more about the history of the kiosk as well as Norwegian sausage culture. And of course, you will taste a proper Norwegian hot dog too!
  • Grunerlokka - Our next stop will be in Grünerløkka, a district best known for the best coffee shops, food culture and small local shops that cannot be found anywhere else in Oslo. Here you will be able to taste typical Norwegian waffles, served with brown cheese, jam and sour cream and learn some fun facts about the waffle culture in Norway.
  • Akerselva River - Akerselva River used to be a crib of Norwegian industrial revolution and today, it’s considered the ‘green lungs’ of Oslo. During the tour, we will walk around some of the most beautiful places around the river, including impressive buildings and beautiful bridges and waterfalls.

Great culture and food tastings experience in Oslo! - The guides did a great job showing our group some interesting places and scenery in Oslo that were off the beaten path! They were very knowledgable about Oslo and told interesting stories. The food and drinks that were offered were unexpected and delicious. I highly recommend this tour while visiting Oslo.

Fun! - We loved Larisa! She is very knowledgeable and personable. We recommend that the tour maybe stop a little more in the park, etc. and perhaps more information on local sites.

A Sunday Stroll with a Taste of Oslo - On a beautiful Sunday in Oslo we were on this food adventure with 8 other’s, who were all ready for a new experience! The tour did not disappoint … trying new foods and drinks in a city that is young and vibrant! Although we enjoyed the foods we tried, we only had 3 stops and lots of walking. We would have enjoyed stopping to try another street food treat and local beverage… perhaps in the Vulkan market area. The various neighborhoods were fun to see and our guide, although not a true local did her best to share information with us. It was a delightful experience and a pleasure meeting the group and guide!

Not worth it - Our guide Larissa was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. The first stop at the food court had a good charcuterie board and a small sour beer. We then walked a long route for a hot dog and a waffle. I do t think this tour was worth the money.

Only OK - Guide Larissa was very sweet, but didn’t give much insight on the food/culture and origins other than the hot dog stand. The food was adequate for us, but may not have been enough for others. The classic waffle was good but I was burping hot dogs all evening! Met some very nice people though

You don't get what you pay for . - We joined this tour thinking we were going to taste local traditional dishes like other food tours . It turned out we were together with a big group walking around with really no itinerary. We tasted some food that was not as described in the tour and one place was even closed . We payed 75 DLLs and this product was by far very bad planned not to mention the guide was very rude when asking if we were going to do SMTH else cause of the place being closed. Our experience was very poor so I would avoid this.. only positive was that it was a sunny day so we did some good walking .

Definitely Skip This. - This was extremely disappointing. Although the guides were well meaning, we met at a fabulous food hall where we spent no time experiencing the different offerings, were given a tiny plate of food in a separate room, walked to a hot dog stand, then walked to a waffel shop. It was very poorly done. Try Culinary Backstreets to see what a food tour can be like and how to do it before you put other people through this uninteresting and poorly planned experience agaiin. Very disappointing.
