This is a verdant haven, unmarred by human interference, where the Tiber stretches out to create Lake Corbara. Cycling here is a natural fit, with flora that has been undisturbed for hundreds of years. The area is rich with evergreen oak, common oak, and chestnut forests, partially interspersed with matted junipers and climbing plants typical of Mediterranean vegetation.
In the hilly regions, one can find wine and olive plantations with local flora: regional wines such as Trebbiano, Grechetto, Malvasia are local treasures. The presence of hops, a plant becoming increasingly scarce elsewhere, is a testament to the pristine nature of the place.
The higher regions are abundant with age-old woods, teeming with rich, dense flora. The hills are home to various kinds of ungulates such as wild boar, fallow deer, and roe deer. A multitude of bird species make their homes along the banks of Lake Corbara and Alviano, including coots, kingfishers, peregrine falcons, grey herons, and buzzards.
