What a find - lovely geothermic park in a lovely setting. - Fantastic park, beautifully presented and set out. Lots of steps but they are staggered so well you climb without realising. Lovely short boat trip over to the geothermal Park. Spotless facilities and the park is breath taking, took so many photos. By far the best geothermic experience for us. We were travelling from Taupo to Rotorua.

Great experience at affordable price - Well-kept facility, nice office/café, toilets, about a 5-minute boat ride to the island, well-signposted tour, you often see people smoking and bubbling, only small gesires can be seen. The boat ride back also takes about 5 minutes. The tour lasts between 1 hour and 1.5 hours, depending on how long you need to take photos and walk.

Geothermal paradise - Brilliant service with on demand ferries to take us there and back. Beautiful natural views and good information provided at the attraction. Our group was aged from 7 - 70 and the terrain was do-able for all. Highly recommend this activity.

Worth every cent! - Our whole family, including two primary school aged kids, enjoyed this experience. We were travelling from Taupo to Whakatane and it was an easy detour. The attraction had lovely, clean facilities and a nice cafe with stunning views. The staff were friendly and helpful. The boat ride over was smooth and quick. All tracks are clearly marked with maps, shade, seats and first aid stations along the way. We spent about 2 hours there in total, which included lots of breaks to read the interesting information at each stop and take photos. Our highlights were the Rainbow Terrace, Artist's Palette, mudpools and Ruatapu Cave (one of only 2 known geothermal caves in the world). Although it's expensive, it's worth the entry fee as the money is clearly well spent on maintaining and operating it. Thanks for a special experience!

less touristy can be tiring - Very different experience to thermal pool site previously visited. Less touristy a good alternative to the Rotarua site. Small cafe onsite but be warned no toilets on explore site. The crossover by boat provides a good view of the area. The site is self explore so you can take aslong as you want the norm seems to be 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Not the is quite a bit of walking quite a bit up and down slopes which can be tiring. Take your time. We are both 68 and managed but it's a good workout.

Interesting sight - Interesting area with lots of different volcanic effects to watch. Not a lot of other tourists when we were there, at around 10 am. Well organized pathways and information signs.
