Ancient Rome beautifully collected in Nimes - Wonderful collection of ancient Rome, very rich in finds and well distributed, also rich in multimedia material. I didn't find the audio guide particularly useful, with reference to some finds and not always easy to grasp. Even our 10 year old son was thrilled to be able to see so much historical wealth up close. The price to access is also excellent, considering the content. A must for anyone passing through Nimes.

Exceptional museum - We were impressed by the visit to this museum with its original and very functional architecture. The rooms are very well arranged. The works are very well highlighted and commented on. Very high quality multimedia animations. A truly exceptional museum!

Beautiful museum - Beautiful museum. There are many Roman excavations in Nimes. There is a lot to see in this museum. I had purchased tickets in advance. The museum is located right next to the Arena in a beautiful, modern building. Afterwards we also went up to the roof. Nice view of the arena.

Incredible Museum Experience - This is an utterly stupendous museum! It is fairly new-I believe built just before the pandemic. It overlooks the magnificent amphitheater and has a convenient casual cafe. Inside the museum is about 3 levels and has some of the most amazing mosaics anywhere in the world. The museum has a nice chronological flow and non Francophones can easily understand the exhibits. There are a few good short films and some very innovative interpretive displays of frescoes, etc. I've been to a huge number of museums around the world and in France including the Louvre, Cluny (Musee du Moyen Age), L'Orangerie, d'Orsay, Musee Granet, Palais du Papes, Musee Alsaciennes, Palais Rohan etc. This is a TOP EXPERIENCE for anyone interested in the Greco-Roman Era and/or Medieval Age.

Outstanding! Not to be Missed - We always make a point of visiting the Civic and/or archaeological Museum which should provide the history of the city with lots of artifacts. We've been to some really great ones, particularly in Bordeaux, Rennes, and Nantes. But we're giving the prize to Nimes, perhaps because they had lots of info in English, and a super restaurant atop the museum. And really attentive and proud folks at the desk. Allow 3 hours if you want to "do it right". You can come and go to the restaurant.

Excellent presentation of Roman culture. - Fascinating collection of Roman life and accomplishments. Really enjoyed this visit. This is a well run operation and very easy to navigate for English speaking visitors. Presentations are quite realistic and there are some site recreations that you can walk through and really get a feel for what was going on. Staff is very helpful and enjoy showing you what they have. Highly recommend.

Fantastic Museum - The museum was fantastic! We spent about 3 hours there, but could easily have spent another 2 or 3 hours. We did order the “Skip the Lines” ticket ahead of time, but for some reason, our codes wouldn’t scan. However, the staff was very helpful and manually let us through. Definitely pay for the audio/video headsets. Then you can roam the museum at your leisure. It’s a very well thought out museum. There’s lots of interactive exhibits. It’s great because you can spend a little bit of time or you can really delve into a topic. The videos are in French, English, and Spanish. This is a definite Must Do when in Montpelier.

A complete experience - After a morning visit to the Arena of Nîmes, the Musée de la Romanité then appears as a logical continuation in our ancient exploration of the city. A museum that stands out for its contemporary architecture. With a very complete collection on Roman civilization, the museum puts in place fun tools to help us discover and live the ancient experience that enlivens the city. A good moment ! Consider going there in the morning to escape the crowds that arrive and quickly invade the place.

Lots of pieces but too much writing! - I didn't appreciate the visit, too much writing and in very small print. The few interactive points work poorly, even when you're used to it! A real old-fashioned museum, as we didn't like them!
