Visiting places:

1 Highway of Horror:

May 1, 1972 will never be forgotten by people in Quang Tri and Thua Thien provinces not because it is the International Labor Day, but because the horrible carnage on the Vietnam Highway 1 about ten kilometers south of Quang Tri City. Thousands of people were killed by artillery and infantry weapons in hours of shooting.

2 Long Hung Church:

This church in Quang Tri, Vietnam fell victim to 8 continuous days of bombings by South Vietnamese and American troops during the Vietnam War. The church has remained untouched and basically remains as it was immediately after the bombings occurred.which was a battlefield in 1972 between North and South Vietnam for 81 days and nights.

3 Doc Mieu Base:

There’s basically nothing left of this old American base save a rusting tank and a sign. Apparently this once formed the backbone of the “eagle eyes of america” electronic monitoring fence.

4 Ben Hai River – Hien Luong Bridge of DMZ:

Vietnam’s Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ, is the area around the former border between North and South Vietnam.

5 Cua Tung Beach:

Cua Tung Beach is located in Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province. Although Cua Tung Beach is not very wide or long, it has its own beauty. The beach has sparkling green water, silky sand, and it is touched by soft breezes throughout the year.

6 Vinh Moc Tunnels:

The tunnels were built in three levels (12, 15 and 23 meters deep) and took thirteen months to complete. Three hundred people lived intermittently in the tunnels during 1966 to 1971. Sixty-two families made the tunnels their home and amazingly seventeen babies were born here and spent the first years of their lives underground.

Excellent tunnel tour with great driver and guide - This trip was pretty interesting, especially for a returning Vet. Our driver, Trung, was delightful, and the local tour guide, Hai, was very knowledgeable about the local area, the war, and these amazing tunnels. They are definitely a sight to behold. This was a healing trip for my husband who has had a lot of guilt from the war, but when he felt welcomed and accepted, it really helped. The Vietnamese people, as a whole, are probably the nicest people we have ever come across, and Trung and Hai were no exception. Would definitely recommend.

Deeply touching exprience - We are a family of five and took a half day private tour. We chose to go to the eastern part of the DMZ only. The experience of the day has far exceeded my expectation. I had an impression the reminiscent of the war is pretty much gone in Vietnam, but, my impression changed completely when I was standing in front of the remain of the buddist school in Quang Tri. It was such an overwhelming manifestation of the war, as if it happened recently. The rest of the visits were very satisfactory too. Vinh Moc tunnels went much longer, deeper, and more enjoyable than Cu Chi. From the dark underground, we exited in front of a sunny beach! It was dramatic. What made this tour so memorable is the stories of our driver Mr. Dung, based on his own family tales going back to the war and even to the French colonial days. We felt so lucky that we joined this tour and Mr.Dung guided us.

DMZ tour - Had a great experience with Hòa our driver who we had a very informative conversation about all things Vietnam. The tour guide for the DMZ trip was also very informative and told us several stories to keep us engaged and explained things very clearly. Tour was very convenient option as we were picked up in Dong Hoi and visited all the sites before getting dropped off in Hue.

DMZ tour - Mr Hoa picked us up in Hue and we had a great chat all the way to our rendezvous with our guide, I think Minh, at the DMZ line. He took us across the bridge and guided us through the Vinh Moc tunnels. Both guys were brilliant, fun, friendly, and professional and had excellent English. Never felt rushed. Fascinating tour, we really loved it. Note though it is a fair ride from Hue.

Highly Recommend - Very informative and moving tour. Our guide who had been a child and adolescent living in the DMZ during the war brought his own memories to us and shared a first hand view of surviving this devastating period. His insights were worth more than the actual physical sites, although the sites were interesting and informative on their own. Highly recommend this tour.

Excellent tours with knowledgable guides, professional drivers, good English, flexible, very friendly; recommendation! - We had 2 super days with Stop and Go Tours, the organisation was smooth, even though we booked very spontaneously. This tour to the DMZ was fascinating and deeply moving. Our tour guide explained everything really well and gave us enough time to look around properly. Our driver, Mr. Hien, was excellent! He not only drove carefully and without honking all the time, which we appreciated a lot, he also told us so many interesting things about Vietnam and the Hue region that we immediately booked him again for a tour of the ancient tombs around Hue the next day. We were amazed at his English with such a wide vocabulary, which we hadn’t expected of a driver. He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable; the car was immaculate, too. This meeting really proved an unexpected highlight of the excursions around Hue. We went to the Khai Dinh (impressive) and the Minh Mang (serene and beautiful) tombs, amongst others. The fee for the two tours was good value for money.
