Additional Information

Spectacle of the Whirling Dervishes: Recognized globally as the most enthralling dance, borne from the inspiration of Rumi (1207-1273) and instructed by Shams-i Tabriz to Mevlana. Upon closer examination, it’s the ceremony performed by the Mevlevi dervishes. In essence, it’s the ritual they undertake by extending their arms on either side, raising their right palm upwards and their left palm towards the ground, accepting gifts from the divine and distributing them to the masses, all the while accompanied by instruments like the Ney. (Reed Flute) In this context, music serves as a facilitator for meditation.

Truly a wonderful experience, totally worth it ! - The ceremony was as mesmerizing as we thought it would be. The music was actually played live. The venue also made the experience even more authentic as it is an actual caravanserai. Our guide, Shahin, gave us lots of background and was just an angel. He even had tips for great photos/videos after the ceremony. All in all, it was truly a wonderful experience.

Spiritual Dervishes - A beautiful and spiritual experience. They gave us plenty of time to take pics at the end so don’t stress if they say no pics while they are performing.

Wow!! - Mystical, ethereal and fascinating ceremony by the Sufi Dervishes, followers of Mevlana, (Rumi). No photos during the ceremony, but they allowed about 2 mins after the final prayer. This is NOT a show. Truly a moving experience. Go!

Disappointed - Beautiful location, but was disappointed with a short basic performance. An intro in English would be good
