Highlights

Meet your guide in your hotel lobby between 6:30am and 9:30am and travel to Navua, the adventure capital of Fiji. At Pacific Harbour, hop into a motorised boat for an exhilarating cruise along the Navua River past tiny villages, farm lands, pristine tropical rainforest, deep gorges and canyons, meandering rapids and several waterfalls. You may come across wild river ducks, white and black heron, and other native birds.

After cruising for an hour you will come to the Magic Waterfall,
Navua’s tallest cascade. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal clear pools beneath the falls before climbing aboard a bamboo raft for a smooth, 30-minute ride on the method of transport favored by Fiji’s native ancestors.

Your next stop is a traditional village,
where a Fijian Warrior will escort you to the bure, or village meeting house. Experience some of Fiji’s age-old customs and traditions including the performance of a welcome yaqona ceremony where you have the opportunity to try kava, a local drink made from the root of the kava plant.

Learn about the history of village, which was established by a lone Englishman named John Humphrey Danford in the early 1800s. After a war dance performed by the young men of the village, perhaps test your own sense of rhythm by joining in with a ‘snake dance.’ Try your hand at tapa painting on traditional cloth and see women plaiting Fijian mats. Then it is time to unearth your lovo lunch
meat, fish and vegetables such as cassava and wild yams which are wrapped in banana leaves and cooked underground before being served with salads and fruit.

After lunch, your driver will return you to your hotel, where the tour ends.

#1 MUST DO - This was delightful (Despite the 4 hour drive to get there) Well worth it The ride fine the river was amazing. The rapids were great fun The highlight was swimming in the foot of the waterfall It was a little hike to get there But a great adventure! The bamboo rafting was very relaxing g The Tovo prepared by his family was fantastic. Nem was so very interesting, and he shared his culture with us in a very respectful way. He demonstrated cracking a coconut, weaving, painting, and the kava customs If you have one choice This is it Bring a bath g suit and towel and a change of clothes

Fantastic experience. - Fantastic experience from beginning to end. Pick up was on time and the driver was excellent. Upon arrival at the village there was time to change clothing before departing. Our skipper knew the river like the back of his hand and manoeuvred the canoe with ease and confidence. Our guide for the day was excellent, he took care of the all women group extremely well, making sure the youngest to the oldest was comfortable and felt safe. He had a great sense of humour and was very knowledgeable. On return to the village the whole experience was excellent, the food was delicious and the singing and dancing was very enjoyable.

Breathtaking experience - Fabulous day and adventure! The waterfall was just spectacular! Beautiful people and spot, thank you for sharing with us. Staying at the Shangri-La, do need to allow 1-2 hours travel time, but definitely worth it!

Amazing day out - The trip was amazing. Gavin captained the boat with finesse, Scott was full of amazing knowledge, Nam full of fun, great sense of humour, great swimmer and knew so much of the rainforest. The village was wonderful, people so giving, lunch delicious and filling, entertainment a lot of fun. Keep your money handy to buy arts and crafts. Support the village. Would recommend everyone go. Thank you for the experience.

Fantastic trip thar was magical - It was 4 hour drive from Nadi which I hadn't realised but we did stop for a loo break and much needed breakfast snack. Really worth it as the day was culturally infomative The waterfall is spectacular and not full of instgramers getting in the way. The village welcome was lovely and Nem our tour guide was funny, infomative and works really hard( even after receiving Kava). No pressure to buy the lovely items made by the villagers. 3 hours coming back but I nodded off. Highly recommend to get to see this beautiful island and get away from resorts

Day in Suva, Fiji - My wife and I along with another couple recently visited Suva, Fiji on a cruise vacation in the South Pacific. While there, we took this excursion. It was approximately a 45 minute bus ride to the site. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He made the trip interesting and informative about the area. The activities included a ride in a long boat up river and through some white water. The scenery was excellent. We saw several waterfalls running down into the river. We made a stop and short hike to a large waterfall which was very picturesque. Some of the guests swam in the base of the waterfall. We returned via the long boats and enjoyed a native Fiji ceremony and lunch. There were choices of local cuisine and traditional food items. Our bus ride back was equally enjoyable. We enjoyed this excursion and would recommend it.

Great tour despite long bus trip to get there - Excellent tour but when I booked I didn’t realise that it would be a 6hour plus return trip to the area if the tour . The guide , Nem,was great …friendly, funny and knowledgeable. We had a skilled boat driver who took us through the rapids . The waterfall was beautiful but I didn’t fancy swimming in the brown water …the other couple on the trip did though . Enjoyed the raft trip Really enjoyed the delicious lunch and the traditional welcoming ceremony with Kava . On the whole an excellent tour despite heavy rain and the long bus journey
