Additional Information

Encompassing both Maasai community territories and Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), the West Kilimanjaro plains in northern Tanzania offer an extraordinary mix of flora and fauna amid stunning vistas of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The region, with its vast expanses of acacia woods and fertile plains, hosts an impressive selection of wildlife. Common species found here include wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, impalas, giraffes and baboons. Depending on the season, elephants might also be sighted as the plains serve as a passageway between Kenya’s Amboseli’s National Park & Mt. Kilimanjaro. The region is inhabited by the migratory Maasai herdsmen who harmoniously share these lands with the native wildlife, hence the nomenclature ‘Maasai Land’. With their abundant cultural heritage and an array of wildlife, a biking trip across these plains will appeal to those thoughtful tourists seeking a unique, far-from-the-crowd adventure that encompasses nature walks, photography, cultural immersion, and scenery.

Spectacular 3 day cycle tour around West Kilimanjaro - My 3 day MTB trip is up there as one of the best cycle trips I've ever done. I contacted One Bike Tanzania to discuss what I wanted and they put together a tour that perfectly fitted the brief. Day 1 on the Kilimanjaro Shira Plateau, Day 2 & 3 on the West Kilimanjaro plains cycling through Maasai country. I stayed in two Lodges that were both beyond expectations. Hard to describe other than spectacular! A fantastic trip - would recommend these guys to anyone.

Experience Tanzania's beauty and culture by bicycle - The high level of professionalism and expertise of Mr. Hillary, Mr. Goodluck, Mr. Roger and Mr. Gasto made our 5 day/4 night (3 days cycling) biking adventure an unforgettable experience. We were with over a dozen young (some beginner) bikers and the One Bike team supported everyone to ensure we had an opportunity to see Tanzania's beauty and culture from the perspective of a bicycle. The bicycles are very good quality. They arranged a variety of overnight locations that showcased the diversity of Tanzania's landscape and culture. Highly recommend this as a family, couples, or group experience. Even if you are not an avid biker, you will enjoy. this experience.
