Highlights
  • Fort Jesus Museum - Tour the outside and grounds of Fort Jesus, the UNESCO World Heritage Site, and experience one of the world’s most well-preserved pieces of 16th Century Portuguese military architecture.

But wait! Fort Jesus is so much more than its impressive, still-standing walls. Inside the gates are an incredible collection of notable historic artifacts and structures, including Oman House which served as the house of the Sultan who governed the East African coast, cannons left behind by the British and Portuguese military, and more.

  • Mombasa Tusks - Take your photo at one of the most iconic spots in Mombasa, four iconic tusks that were erected for the arrival of Queen Elizabeth in 1952. They now serve as an introduction to the heart of Mombasa, welcoming visitors from all over the world.

  • Old Town - Situated in the south-east part of Mombasa, visiting Mombasa Old Town is like living history. Descendants of the host of cultures who’ve lived here, including Swahili people, Arabs, Portuguese, and British settlers, make this area rich with life. Architectural details reflect each culture’s influence, making Old Town a vibrant exhibit of life and culture from centuries past in Mombasa.

  • Mombasa - Experience coastal Kenya and the Old Town Mombasa Spice Market, where Mombasa’s legacy as an important stop on the spice route can still be felt (and smelled!) today. This covered market filled with spices of every imaginable color is always bustling.

  • Haller Park - Haller Park is an animal sanctuary set on reclaimed land which was formerly a limestone mine wasteland. The park is home to giraffes, zebras, Cape buffalo, waterbuck, and hippo. Oh, and the one-time internet sensation 130-year-old tortoise named Mzee (Old Man) which adopted a baby hippo.

  • Akamba Handicraft - Carvings unlike any other. From decorative masks and shields to jewelry and home decor, the wood carvings at Akamba are internationally renowned. Here, you’ll learn about the Akamba legacy that dates back more than 100 years.

Excellent tour - As a solo traveller, this tour is highly recommended. Humphrey was very knowledgeable about the history and I was able to get a comprehensive insight of the city. I'd be more than happy for his services once again when I have another chance to come back to Mombasa.

Don't lose this chance!!. - Humphrey is an amazing guide in Mombasa. He explains to us about history, culture and society of the city. Many tips about the development of life in Mombasa and how it has changed during the time. He can show the food market with the opportunity to try many fruits and spices. I suggest for anyone that will pass in the city to book and enjoy the tour with Humphrey. You will not regret it.

Repeat tour takers - This is the third tour of Mombasa we've taken with Humphrey - this time we brought our family from Canada. As always, Humphrey is communicative, prompt to arrive well in advance and welcomes you upon arrival, and he tailors the tour to your needs and desires. We had limited time, yet Humphrey was able to accommodate and show us everything Mombasa has to offer. Will continue recommending his tours to others.

The most beautiful thing was the visit to Fort Jesus where Humphrey told us its history and the slave trade with a lot of sentiment And emphasis. Worth every cent of his fee - I appreciate the insight that he provided us with, and the genuine love that he has for his profession, it is highly evident on his face when he explain the history of the place. He then took us into old town Mombasa and the best thing is that he negotiated prices down on the items we wanted in the market even the tok toks. We had a bit of doubt when he approached us for a tour, but I am definitely happy that he did.
