See some of the real Kenya - A great way to escape the tourism bubble and see some of the real Kenya. I rode with Julius and enjoyed the relaxed pace, the scenery and the chats we had along the way with people he knows. A splendid way to spend a Saturday morning.

Friendly relaxed ride - Ride the Coast make everything easy for you from the time you book. Maggie sends a welcoming WhatsApp and answers any questions. The only hard bit are the hills 🥵 . Julius was our main guide for this ride, he is very knowledgable and seems to know everyone we met along the way, which added to the experience. We were given plenty of water for the ride, so there's no need to bring your own with you. At the midway point Julius offered us the shortcut back... we took it. The heat and humidity took its toll on us I'm sorry to say, but it was a good decision. The views along the way are lovely, and well worth the effort. I'm considering a second ride later in the holiday

Enjoyable glimpse into rural life while working those thighs! - Fantastic way to spend a morning! Riding through the villages with my guide provided a great glimpse into a more rural way of living in Mombasa, in a way that didn't feel intrusive or predatory, as the guide greeted many people along the way who greeted us back and made me feel welcomed. The natural scenery is also pretty. I don't bike frequently, so I went on a level 1 trip and still found it challenging. It was *very* hot and sunny--don't forget sunscreen and wear a cap under your helmet. But my guide helped along the entire way, encouraging me to get off the bike if I was too tired and even pushing my bike a bit as I struggled up a hill. I really enjoyed the whole day! And never once felt sexualized by my guide (as a solo woman traveler I have felt that from many guides in Diani, thankfully from none in Mombasa).

The other Kenya uncovered - Thoroughly enjoyed my cycle tour with Julius. I was the only participant so I had him to myself. He showed me some fascinating villages and a side of Kenyan life that I would never otherwise have accessed. Julius was friendly, considerate and interesting.

See the Mombasa villages with a bike - It was a great experience. We got to cycle through local villages in the Mombasa area. Someone sees the local people and cycles through the alleys of the villages. Also some very nice scenery at the Mtwapa Creek and at Haller Park. We (I and my tour guide Julius) did 12 km and at the end I was relatively exhausted however we did the intermediate route (not the easiest one). I would say this activity requires a good physical condition. My guide Julius provided me with drinking water (very important under the hot Mombasa sun) and we did the whole route according to my pace if I was tired we made stops. All in all a very nice experience I really enjoyed and would highly recommend if someone looks for a physical activity and would like to see also the local nature and the villages of Mombasa area.

Nice trails & sights, courteous guides and abundant supplies. - First day we chose the tour Along The Creek. I did it with my mom (60 years old) and she managed it, but sometimes had to walk the slopes up. Guides were patient, and were able to fix a dislocated chain (on their own bike) pretty quickly. One should just make sure to be picky when choosing a bike at the beginning. Some don’t shift gears well, some have poor brakes. Helmets, gloves, drinks and bananas are all provided in abundance. Second tour we took was Three Coastal Area, and it was significantly different in terms of viewpoints. Guides were courteous and let us start an hour early so we could check out of the hotel in time. Also very nice trail and a good view point half way through the tour. I wouldn’t recommend a full day tour because it‘s just way too hot.

The 'Real' Kenya - We booked a few days into our holiday. My partner and I were the only two on the tour, so we had the guides, Julius and Giddy to ourselves. Set off along some minor roads, through some villages and out into the countryside along to the river. Stunning views from there. Cycled right through small villages and past peoples houses, schools etc and saw how some people really live in Kenya, which was a real eye-opener. Apart from going on safari, it was the best day of our holiday. We did one of the longer tours I think, which was 14 miles with varied terrain and a few steep hills and one creek to cross, where I managed to fall over! LOL The bikes and helmets could do with updating, but were fine and appreciate that may not be possible due to cost. But even when I had. puncture, Julius had all the equipment in his rucksack to repair it, so borrowed his bike while he fixed it. All-in-all a great activity and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, even if you're not a regular avid cyclist.
