Start your journey towards Catania, travelling approximately 5km through a flat area. This is to help us gentle loosen up and get comfortable with our road bikes. After we complete the initial ascent of our Etna tour, we encounter a mild incline of between 5% and 10% for about another 5km. We traverse above Fiumefreddo di Sicilia, a small town aptly named after an underground river that runs down from the northeastern side of Mount Etna. Notice the changing landscape as the vegetation becomes progressively more rugged and overgrown. Eventually, we find ourselves amidst olive orchards, agricultural fields and lush greenery typical of this area. Now, on to The First Wall and Wine Cellars.
