Additional Information

Mdina, which was once the capital of Malta, is situated atop a hill and covers almost two-thirds of the island. This ancient fortified city, located centrally, is one of the prime examples of timeless architecture from the medieval and baroque periods in Europe. Locals refer it to as the ‘Silent City’ and it houses several palaces, owned by Maltese noble families, most of which are used as holiday homes.

As you wander through the city of Mdina, it would feel as if you have stepped into a time capsule; its labyrinth of narrow streets, magnificent palaces, churches, and courtyards attribute a distinctive charm to the city, making it a must-visit location while in Malta. Don’t forget to visit Rabat, an adjoining suburb of Mdina. It holds significant religious importance, as per local legend, it was the place where St Paul the Apostle was held captive.

Walking Tours - excellent and good value for money - We did the Mdina and Rabat walking tour on Tuesday with Angele and thought it was so good we joined her Valetta trip on Wednesday. Angele is extremly knowledgeable, professional, chooses a good pace and added bonus of recommending other things to do and places to eat during our stay. The trips are also very good value for money. Thoroughly recommend.

Engrossing - Fascinating walk with Angell this morning. It was cold and damp but I scarcely noticed as Angell was so engaging. Clearly passionate about sharing her extensive knowledge of Malta with visitors and with a wry sense of humour I highly recommend this tour.

Let down - The guide was great, very informative without going over the top with facts and figures. The only downside was more than 15 people on the tour which was overcrowded so not enough headsets! My wife is deaf in one ear and didn’t get a headset so very disappointed
