Definitely add this to your to-do list! - We had an amazing day trekking through the jungle to a hidden waterfall where we got to swim. We then had a delicious jungle cooked lunch. We then met the elephants and had the opportunity to feed and bath them before heading to do some bamboo rafting. Overall the experience was magical from start to finish. Our guide Jackie Chan was so knowledgeable about everything the jungle had to offer and was very open to answering our questions throughout the day. On top of this, the boys who brought us rafting were a lot of fun and gave us chances to steer our raft. We got to pass the elephants in the water and they splashed us as we went by!

Awesome! A must visit in Chiang Mae - Awesome! You get the chance to do a real nice trekking, shower the elephants in their natural habitat, eat some homemade Thai food and chill around the area feeding the elephants. People working here is really friendly and nice. A must visit If you go to Chiang Mae.

Memorable! - Zen, our tour guide was suuuuper nice and amazing and so knowledgable, teaching us along the way everything about nature, culture and Thai life and thinking! Elephant day, trekking day, homestay in bamboo hut - do it guys!!! Especially Dey, our host at the trekking hide out where we spent the night was super cute and humble and nice, with his father playing the Thai tena harp at a camp fire. Amazing yummy lunch dinner and breakfast was provided and all together we would recommend this to anyone who wants to experience the real life outside and reconnect to NATURE!

Eye opening experience - Amazing experience And the great option to interact with elephants. But there is a lot more about this place you need know. Chailai Orchid is an amazing place connected to a Druthers Rising charity organization supporting woman’s at risk in Thailand and Burma. It’s a eye opening experience. While visiting northern Thailand Be sure to take a jungle trekking trip or a night stay ate their place. So much more than you can imagine

Simply incredible!! - We went to Chiang Mai just to go on this tour because our neighbor here in California loved the Elephant experience. Once we were their we loved it too. First to spend a day with the Elephants was incredible and then that evening we stayed in the mountains with P LAH as our night and morning Host and then our Elephant Host Golo came in the morning and took us on a day hike through the jungle explaining the plants and Karen culture as we went. Ended up at a beautiful waterfall for lunch that P LAH had prepared for us wrapped in banana leaves. Loved this trip and my Daughter loved the Elephants. One of those bucket list trips!!

Amazing and authentic eco-tour experience! - My wife and I visited Chai Lai Sister's Orchid for an overnight stay in the middle of October as part of a week exploring Chiang Mai. There are a lot of eco-tours and elephant encounters in the region, but we're really glad we picked this one. It was a bit of a rugged ride to get to the elephants, but well worth the bumpy trek. When we got to the grounds, we were able to interact with about a dozen elephants. All seemed happy, healthy, and we'll cared for by the locals, none in chains or with riding harnesses. We saw several young ones still paired with their mothers and the entire group was allowed to have plenty if elephant-to-elephant bonding time without being harassed by tour groups. We helped feed and bathe them, and were surprised that we had the opportunity to ride. (Side note, it's not always something that happens, we just got lucky, additionally, if you do get the chance, you're riding 'bare back', so be prepared). After the elephant experience, we went to the lovely jungle camp with our guide Nat (aka Lady Gaga). She is a lively, funny girl with a lot of knowledge about the Karen people. The setting was peaceful, the staff were friendly (especially Nukul), and we had an amazing evening. The next morning we were lucky enough to spend time with two more elephants that lived in the jungle. Unlike the rescued elephants we saw the day before, these two were 'local' elephants from the village. It was amazing to see how these animals interacted with their handlers, you really see a bond between them. In addition to all of that, we had a great time taking a bamboo raft down the river, hiking through the jungle, and interacting with local villagers. This is a newer operation in the area, but they're mission is a noble one: help with elephant conversation/rescue, and assist with local community, particularly the young women.

Highly highly recommended - So personally I was nervous when my girlfriend booked a stay in a jungle bungalow, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not for the weak of heart, as you will be without cell phone service and WiFi on the premises, but as far as glancing goes this was top notch. The girls provided the most amazing food that we would have on the entire trip in Thailand. We took a trip to have an elephant experience, which was unnerving because we know so many places in the country use unethical practices with regards to the treatment of the elephants, but this organization is deeply committed to respecting the comfort and health of the animals. The tour guide Alex who taught us to care for the elephants is worthy of special mention as he made the experience so much more fun and really reassured us he was primarily concerned with both having fun with the guests without being at the expense of the elephants safety or happiness. In all of our pictures that Alex took the elephants were actually smiling and beaming! As for the girls back at the chai lai sisters, all of them are worthy of praise and special mention. (I’m going to butcher the spelling of their names but here it goes) Golo was so calm, professional and helpful the whole time Nukun was super positive, upbeat and saw to our every need Na (aka lady Gaga ;)) was downright hilarious and insisted on us coming back, so sweet! Da and popri (again, I cannot spell their names, sorry girls!) were the cooks and took us to their village to really sow us was the Karen culture is like. For such young girls, they really know how to whip up a good dish! These girls made the experience, as well as Alex making the elephant trek such a pleasure. Great job all around! They’re currently building up and improving the premises and I cannot wait to see how it turns out!

Amazing 1 night stay - We booked the 2 day 1 night jungle trek and homestay and had a wonderful time. Our first day we spent about 4 hours trekking to and from a beautiful waterfall. We then went to our homestay and were able to swim in the river and by another waterfall. Our second day was spent with elephants near by in the morning and in the afternoon we went to chai Lai orchid. We had a wonderful time ! Our guides were amazing and so friendly !

Incredible 2 day jungle trek and elephant experience - My husband and I stayed at The Chai Lai Orchid Eco-Lodge and this was one of their excursions. We met our tour guide, Golo, about 9:30 to drive an hour or so into the mountains/jungle for a 3 hour trek to a waterfall. We stopped to pick up food on the way up. Everything we ate was grown or raised locally. Lunch was wrapped in a banana leaf. We saw the chickens who's eggs we would eat with our fried rice from rice fields we drove past. The jungle trek was fantastic! We hiked with a family from Spain, they had two girls around middle and high school - everyone had a great time. The hike ends at a farm where our guide picked corn and passion fruit for us which we later ate for dinner. The woman working the land road back with us to the Karen Village we stopped in to say hello and pick up dinner items before heading to Chai Lai Sister's for the night. Chai Lai Sisters is a camp set up in a Karen Hill Tribe Village. It's on a river/waterfall with beautiful outdoor showers, running water and shared bathroom area/toilet, all very clean. This is glamping. There is minimal electricity so bring your portable phone charging battery because you will take 1,000 photos. The beds are very firm but you are so wiped out from the days activities and the sound of the rushing water that you're asleep in moments. Dinner was cooked for us, again all locally grown/raised food, cooked over fire. Beers are chilled in the river. We had yellow curry with rice and banana leaves with pork, some veggies and a ton of fruit for desert. Breakfast was served at 8:30am the next day. I showered in the waterfall which was exhilarating and the scenery is beautiful! Then the elephants show up! We walked an hour through the jungle with a bull elephant and an older female. It was INCREDIBLE! This experience topped anything else we saw there. I highly, highly recommend it! We also purchased some beautiful, handmade scarves that were made by the Hill Tribe women running the camp. As if that wasn't enough, we then took a bamboo rafting trip down the Chiang Mai River, had a delicious lunch of Pad Thai back and Chai Lai Orchid and then spent the rest of the afternoon with a different set of elephants. I recommend this experience to anyone wanting a nature adventure and up-close interaction with elephants. It was something I will never forget.
