Jewish Heritage Tour - The Jewish Heritage tour of Lisbon was really terrific. Diogo was very knowledgeable. We began at the History Museum and explained how the Jews came to Portugal and where they settled in Lisbon. Their contributions to Portuguese history and culture. We went to a neighborhood which been part of a Jewish Quarter (there had been several quarters) which had not totally been destroyed during the earthquake of 1755 and walked us through what are believed to be remnants of Jewish homes and synagogue. We went to the site of the Jewish massacre of 1506 and saw the memorial to the victims. This is a don't miss tour for anyone interested in Jewish history.

This tour covered the picturesque as well as the history or Portugal - We hired a private driver thru Viator. Our driver was a historian on the history of the Jewish people in Portugal. We most likely saw sights that many tourists miss on their one day there. Lisbon is an amazing city with a rich proud culture and its people are very warm and friendly.

Terrific tour guide (Diogo) gave us a most memorable experience - Meeting Diogo set the pace for a fabulous & memorable tour for my husband and me. I can’t imagine anyone who would be able to share more knowledge in such a relatable, contextual and memorable way. Diogo is both a scholar & storyteller of a fascinating “evidence based” history of Lisbon & Portugal. His understanding of a vast and evolving Jewish history and its consequences is outstanding.

A delightful afternoon with Diogo - Diogo gave us a very fun and interesting look at the Jewish history of Lisbon. Be sure to include going to the City museum as it makes the rest of the tour more understandable. I would recommend to anyone interested in Jewish history. As a bonus he includes lots of supplemental material to take home, and a stop at a delightful pastry cafe!
