- Santuario del Miracolo Eucaristico - The town of Lanciano is above all a cradle of art for the presence of numerous monuments, starting from the sanctuary of the Eucharistic Miracle which preserves the testimony of the oldest Eucharistic miracle of the Catholic world. Around the year 700, in the ancient church of San Legonziano, a Basilian monk expressed doubts about the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. During mass, the consecrated host and wine really turned into flesh and blood. The relics are kept in a monstrance that is admired by thousands of faithful.
- Santuario del Volto Santo - Inside the Shrine of Manoppello is enclosed, in a case, what is recognized as the true Face of Jesus Christ. A legend tells that in 1506 a pilgrim presented himself to the physicist Giacomo Antonio Leonelli and gave him the precious gift. The veil remained in the Leonelli house until 1608, then was stolen by a soldier of fortune and sold to Donatantonio De Fabritiis and from these donated to the Capuchin Father Clemente from Castelvecchio From 1646 the Holy Face is exposed to the veneration of the people. It is a soft veil, the warp and the weft are intertwined in the form of a normal weaving. The cloth measures 17 x 24 cm and shows the image of a male face with long hair and a beard divided into bands; it is the only case in the world where the image is identically visible on both sides. No residues or pigments of color can be found. At the end of the seventies the Trappist nun Blandina Paschalis Schloemer, an expert iconographer, discovered that the Face of the Shroud of Turin and that of Manoppello

St. Francis Church is home to the earliest recorded Eucharistic miracle in Catholic history. Around the year 700, a Basilian monk questioned Christ’s presence in the Eucharist and during a mass, the blessed bread and wine transformed into flesh and blood. A silver monstrance and a crystal vial preserve the two relics: five drops of solidified blood and thin flesh membranes. Histological analyses confirmed human blood and cardiac tissue with a blood type of AB. Every year, thousands of global pilgrims journey to the holy site. The Manoppello Shrine is widely accepted as the genuine visage of Jesus Christ. The Holy Face has been revered by people since 1646. It’s a gentle veil where the threads intersect normally, the face on the Shroud of Turin and Manoppello are both believed to have been placed on Jesus’s body.

A wonderful and moving experience! - Our family of 5 from the US booked this trip as an excursion for a day to get out of busy Rome. A beautiful trip to the more rural Adriatic side of Italy. Two deeply moving spiritual sites that cannot be expressed with words. Francesco and Roberto took amazing care of us for the day and also sprinkled in some walks of the local towns along the way, local food (amazing arrosticini!!), and other surprises we appreciated. Thank you both again for a wonderful day!!

Such a special tour - This tour was so special to us. Four of us travelled together and this was the best day on our 15 day trip. Bianca and Roberto took such good care of us. We love them like friends. Thank you! From Gary and Dana Chris and Tina.

Highly recommended regardless of one’s faith or belief - This was a near 12-hour return journey. The 2 drivers ensured the long drive was undertaken safely. Our guide Rossana exercised flexibility to accommodate my less mobile elderly sister. As requested, she even arranged a private Mass for my group at Lanciano although, for convenience, we joined a group from Australia for Mass instead. At Manopello, she arranged for Friar Fr. Abel to recount the history of the Holy Face and explain its deeper meaning to us. This trip is indeed spiritually uplifting.

Eucharistic Miracle - Rossana Lanucara, our guide and Rodriguez, the driver provided the four of us a marvelous and enlightening 12 hour day from Rome to Lanciano and back on October 19. It was a 5 star experience!
