Terrific family friendly sushi workshop - I highly recommend this workshop. Our host is wonderful. She told us interesting stories of sushi making, where she gets the ingredient, how to become a sushi master, and the history of the building. She is an excellent teacher and speaks great English. She gave detailed instructions and demonstrations, and patiently guided us step-by-step. My family of four including a teenager and a preteen were all able to make beautiful sushi. They were delicious; we ate them all. I also really like her own story that she shared with us. She worked really hard, went through different jobs, became a sushi master herself and now owns this Sushi workshop. Very inspiring!

Omotenashi sushi experience - Kana was such an amazing teacher and host. We learned and prepared different types of sushi and she provided accommodations for different allergies in our party. Everyone was thoroughly involved the entire time and we learned about Japanese history, sushi, and customs as she taught us how to prepare our own sushi. We made three different types of sushi: nigiri, gunkan, and handrolled sushi.
The sushi was delicious and she sent us home with a beautiful souvenir so that we can continue to make sushi at home. Kana and her assistant showed us the spirit of omotenashi - whole-hearted hospitality and thoughtfulness. Would definitely recommend!

Wonderful experience! - What a fun time! We went with our two daughters, age 6 and 9, and they were very accommodating to each child’s development stages in how handle sushi. They were both very engaged and excited. Of course the food was great, and we got a fun take home bag too. Highly recommend, thank you!

Fun and Delicious - You can believe all the great reviews about this experience. Kana was so friendly and informative. My daughter and I had her all to ourselves for our class which made it even better. Our sushi looked and tasted amazing. I highly recommend this class and remember not to eat before because we went on an empty stomach and still could not finish all the sushi we made. Arigato Kana.

Highly recommend! - Such a fun and memorable experience! After having so much great sushi in Japan, it was wonderful to try to make our own. Plus the fish was high quality so even if ours didn’t look as nice as sushi chefs’ they still tasted great. Lastly Kana is really what made this experience better than other competing experiences. She was so kind and knowledgeable. We learned so much!

Hands on sushi making class - We went to Kana’s brilliant sushi class today as a family with two teenagers. Everyone loved it, the only thing you don’t do is cook the rice and as Kana and Kerim told us no one has cooked rice in Japan for 60 years as everyone has a rice cooker. Ingredients are fresh from Nishiki market that morning and the best part is once you finish rolling and making your nigiri and sushi rolls you get to eat them. We made so much we could not finish it all. The hosts are wonderful and really helpful. English is really clear and they provide a great gift bag after. Would recommend this to everyone.

Sushi making class - We went to this class with our teenagers 17 and 13. The class is run by Kana assisted by Kerim who were amazing hosts and really interested in what we wanted to do in Kyoto and really helpful. Sushi making is hands on with beautiful fresh fish bought that morning from Nishini market. My kids loved it as much as the adults - usually they are very hard to please in terms of interacting with these experiences but not this time. Would recommend to everyone and more importantly you get to eat what you produce. We could not finish it all! Five stars!
