Fun experience in Kyoto for tourists! - Amazing experience where the instructors included explanations and historical background for the cutting and zen sessions. It also felt great to be able to hold an actual katana and put it to work.

Not to be missed!!! - Very well organized and professional. Japanese staff accompanied by native English speakers for translation. Really immersive experience. The two hours of duration flew. Wearing a real kimono and using a real 150-year-old original sword was really exciting. Money well spent. Recommendation to all

Worth the time - I traveled solo but this is great for all ages - a unique experience holding a katana and also learning about the other aspects of being a samurai. Very interactive from swinging the sword to also hitting a drum and dressing the part.

UNIQUE experience in Japan🇯🇵✨ - We really got caught up in the game and that was probably the best thing we did during our trip to Japan. Being able to use a katana under the guidance of a great teacher is really a unique experience!

Great Experience - Best experience of our whole Japan trip. The chance to wield a katana in Kyoto, under the guidance of skilled masters, was unforgettable. The blend of history, precision, and culture made it a unique and enriching adventure. Would totally recommend it to anyone interested in traditional Japanese martial arts and authentic experiences.

Real steel, real deal. - When I was Tokyo, I did this cheesy samurai thing that left me feeling kind of stupid. Not the case with this tour. In Kyoto, we went to the house of a real former samurai, we dressed as they did, meditated as they did, and most importantly, we got to swing a real samurai sword like they did. They will tell you the history of the Samurai Warden who lived at this house and give you a demonstration of how to slice tatami before putting the sword in your hands. Not to brag, but my group left some pretty sad looking tatami on the ground that will never bother anyone else again. I said the sword was pretty sharp. They said it was actually quite blunt, and it was technique that mattered. I said, well, now I feel like a samurai. The tour guides are a mix of Japanese and Westerners who make you feel very welcome. They dress you, offer to take photos if you're like me and terrible at selfies. Plus, the Zen meditation was actually rather interesting and really set off the whole feel of being back in the Sengoku era. This tour was short, but very much worth it. I guarantee you'll walk out the door feeling a little more badass.

Not to be missed! 10/10 a once in a lifetime experience! - What a beautiful experience! This is something you have to do if visiting Kyoto, you won't get to experience anything like this anywhere else in the world. It is carried out with such respect for the tradition and you learn a lot about the history of the Samurais in Japan, and it even takes place in an actual Samurai's house which made the experience even more authentic. After a brief history lesson, you get 2 sword demos before handling the sword on your own! You first warm up with a wooden sword before taking on the real thing. It was a surreal experience being able to use a real sword and cutting through the bamboo makes you feel extremely accomplished. All the staff there were just fantastic!
