Highlights
  • The Stone Store & Kemp House - Kerikeri Mission Station - Our tour takes us to the Kerikeri Mission Station which was established in 1819. There are two significant buildings, “The Stone Store” built in 1832, originally used as a Missionary Society warehouse and the adjacent “Kemp House”, New Zealand’s oldest building completed in 1821/22 by missionary carpenters and Maori sawyers.
  • Makana Chocolate Boutique - Makana Confections specialises in gift-quality confections - all hand-made and using only the freshest, natural ingredients available to them. Like a winery / cellar door you can watch how the chocolates are made, taste a few samples and, of course, shop for delicious chocolate
  • Rainbow Falls - There is short walk from the car park to the stunning Rainbow Falls, which is accessible by wheelchair.

There are three stunning viewing platforms at the top of the Rainbow Falls. All of which offer great photo opportunities.

  • Plough & Feather - We have lunch (vegetarian & gluten free options available) here along with a glass of local wine or craft beer.
The Plough & Feather sits on the very land where Europeans and Maori first lived together peacefully. The menu reflects this with dishes that combine classic English meals and pub food with local accents, ingredients and flavours.

I'll be back - The stone house and lunch near the river were amazing. The waterfalls were so beautiful, if I had more time I would have loved to jump in.

Excellent day out. - This was an excellent day out and a great way to explore the local area. Our driver/guide was great and imparted a lot of information. The fact that there were only eight of us made it a great experience and the fish and chip lunch was superb, as was the local beer. Highly recommended.

Very enjoyable - This tour was probably the best of our tours in NZ. The area was beautiful and Bill our tour guide very informative which resulted in a very enjoyable experience. Would have been nice to also spend some time in Piahia but we ran out of time, this because of the ship schedule and not the tour provider. We had to be back on board our Princess cruise by 4pm which seemed very early

Historic Keririkeri tour - Our tour guide Ken took us on a wonderful tour of the Bay of Islands, the glow worm caves was a highlight, so too the toilet designed by Hundertwasser. Ken was extremely professional and knowledgeable about this beautiful area of New Zealand

A Must See - Had a wonderful and very informative private tour with our lovely guide Ken. It was all worth it as we've been to a lot of tourist places around the islands. Exceeded our expectations of the tour. Highly recommended if you're stopping by the island.

Excellent - Great time with Graham. Despite the rain we were on the bus so stayed out of most of it. Loved seeing the glow worms!

Good but not worth the expense. - Rainbow Falls were good as well as the Stone Store and Kemp House being the oldest building in NZ. Derek, our guide, was very good. The lunch was under average with one piece of fish and chips and the chocolate factory was quite small. The four hour tour was good but definitely not worth the $185.
