- Children’s Eternal Rain Forest - After a one hour ride in a four wheel drive truck through mountain paths, you will arrive at the Pocosol Station, a scientific research center created to study the flora and fauna and which is located alongside a lagoon of volcanic origin at 1100 meters above sea level. During the 4 hour long hike through 7 kilometers (4.45 mile) trail you will admire the primary forest, the volcanic soil with its fumaroles, the Pocosol Waterfall with a height over 50 meters (164 feet), the observation deck which allows you to watch its fall into a river canyon, as well as the areas’ incredible flora and fauna including a large variety of animals, like wild boars, coatis, agoutis, howler monkeys, and many types of birds.
This research center is part of the reserve Children’s Eternal Rainforest, which is administered by the Monteverde Conservationist Association, that possesses 22,000 hectares (54.400 acres) of protected forest.

True Adventure - This felt like one of the most authentic rainforest adventures of our family vacation. We were picked up by a comfortable tour bus from our hotel, but then we switched to a 4 wheel drive pickup truck once we started heading into the rainforest. Our particular tour was a private one for our family of 4. We did hours of hiking through the largest conservation area in Costa Rica and bumped into only one other tour group. We learned a ton from our extremely knowledgeable guide Albert. We saw some cool wild life including a King Vulture and a Viper. Lunch was provided in a beautiful spot. I highly recommend this tour, but make sure everyone in your group is prepared for a moderate hike.

Great Off the Beaten Path Experience - What a great trip with Ecoterra. We were in the Fortuna area and wanted to get away from the tourists. This trip is like an hour drive away on a crazy bumpy road (I loved it!). You arrive at the Poscol station and do ~4.5 miles of walking on the trails. It was fairly short for a hiking trip, but was nice. Tons of different types of plants and wildlife. We didn't see another person the whole trip. Food back at the Poscol station was also really good. Best coffee I have ever had in my life too (Cafe de Monteverde).
