Highlights
  • Udo - Udo is an island adjacent to the eastern end of Jeju Island, and is the second largest island after Jeju Island in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The name Udo was given because the island looks like a cow lying down.
The walk takes about 5 hours. You can ride a bus or ride an electric bike without a license. You can tour Udo only by boat from Seongsan Port, so anyone needs an ID to purchase a boat ticket. You can have a cup of tea at a cafe or ride a jet boat while looking around the island, looking at Jeju’s nature, haenyeo at work, and old lighthouses. The beach made of shells is very special. It is the island with the most untouched nature. It is worth taking a leisurely time to rent a bicycle and look around the island.

If you go to Udo, you must purchase a boat ticket, so you must have an ID.

Visitors can embark on a 15-minute boat ride to Udo from either Seongsan Port or Jongdal Port. Spanning a length of 3.8 km and a perimeter of 17 km, you could traverse the entire island on foot in approximately 3-4 hours without pausing. However, many opt for alternative transportation such as buses, bikes, or small electric vehicles to explore prominent attractions.

Allocating around 3-4 hours to explore one or two notable sights like Geommole Beach, Udobong Peak, Hongjo Dangoe Beach, and Hagosu-dong Beach, including leisure time at a cafe or eatery, is advisable. For a more relaxed experience of Udo, consider taking the morning ferry and returning on the afternoon service to maximize your time on the island. Keep in mind, ferry schedules may be subject to weather-related alterations. Therefore, it’s crucial to verify meteorological forecasts when organizing your visit. Additionally, identification is mandatory for ferry ticket purchases to Udo, with boarding denied in its absence.
