Additional Information

Embark on a bespoke tour of Snaefellsnes National Park from Reykjavik, designed for intimate groups. This intriguing trip climaxes around the midpoint at the impressive Snæfellsjökull Volcano Glacier, towering 1,450 meters and made renowned by Jules Verne’s ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’.

The tour proceeds under the sea via a 6km tunnel through Hvalfjördur, taking you to quaint towns and fishing communities, and offers views of awe-inspiring avian cliffs and shorelines. The expedition halts at the stunning Kirkjufell Mountain, recognizably resembling a church, which is paired with a charming little cascade across the lane. The tour includes a stop at Djúpalónssandur beach (might be unreachable during winter), where the brave-hearted can test their mettle with the Stones of Trial.

The complete trip around the Snaefellsnes Peninsula offers numerous vistas of the majestic Snæfellsjökull Glacier Volcano. It is important to note that this tour does not include venturing onto the ice cap itself.

Amazing trip - Booked the trip with GTI because we wanted to see the area without renting a car ourselves and it was so worth it! The bus size was small and cozy which made for a great ride and our tour guide was an absolute joy, you could tell this was someone who loved and appreciated the nature here. The tour covered so many different locations and sights that it was hard to predict what you would see next, we even went to a seal bay where we could walk up to them with only a few meters between us! We would highly recommend this trip if you want to see as much as possible, this area has so many things to see and this is the best way to do it.

True Icelandic experience - Wonderful day. Our original plan was canceled but we were placed on a similar tour with East West tours. Our guide Leroy was the best. Shared personal stories of why he migrated to Iceland. Played a game at each spot where we counted in Icelandic. This tour included a homemade lunch at a horse farm. Got a real taste of authentic Icelandic hospitality. Two days later on a different tour spotted Leroy who gave us both a hug. Highly recommend this tour and small group tours in general.

Customer Oriented - Cant say enough good things about Gateway to Iceland. My wife and I booked GTI for a Snaelfellsness NP tour. Their tour didnt get the required no of participants and we had already prepaid. Clare with GTI booked us with an affiliate company so we didnt have to go thru the process of credit and last minute rebook etc, then emailed all the info to me. the new tour was identical but also included lunch as a bonus. Good customer service and much appreciated Clare.

EXCELLENT! We had such a... - EXCELLENT! We had such a wonderful time touring Snaefellsnes! We ended up with such a small tour group that our guide, Thrond, was able to take us to a few extra stops for pictures - and a stop for the best carrot cake I've ever had (Hótel Snaefellsnes). Thrond was so great!! Very funny, kind, and knowledgeable!

Snaefelness is a must visit in Iceland - We loved our tour around Snaefellness. It was a wonderful way to see one part of the country! Our guide Dooly shared with us some history of the island as we travelled. One of our most memorable things was stopping along the side of the road for fresh glacial water flowing down into a stream! So refreshing! Our fish and chips at the lunch stop was delicious and the sights, oh so wonderful. We didn't get to stop at he Balck church as a lot of groups headed out at once, but we did arrive back early so that is one small thing I would have asked to stop at even if it was busy. Definitely recommend going to Snaefellness!

Highly recommended!! - Had an excellent day with Dooley. This was my third tour with Gateway to Iceland. All have been excellent. All the tours are extremely well organized. The small-group format reduces the drop off/pick-up time and also creates the opportunity to ask more questions. The National park is beautiful. Dooley is an excellent story-teller. Despite a gray, rainy day he still made sure everyone had a great time. Highly recommend any tour on Gateway to Iceland!

It was a beautiful day! - We were lucky with this tour! Amazing weather! Small group of just 4 people plus a guide, made it a private tour experience. Pleasant fun tour guide. We saw a lot and enjoyed our day very much.

South Coast and Golden Circle Tours - We had the most fantastic time with this company! Mr. Sigurdsson and Mr. Dooly were terrific guides. The love they have for their beautiful country really shaped our experience into a very positive one. We fully intend to utilize their company to see the Northern Lights.

Snaefellsnes is worth your while - Despite of unfavorable weather conditions, our day tour pushed through and it's still a great way to experience the beauty of Snaefellsnes Peninsula! You will definitely experience the dynamic weather in Iceland, rain or shine it's still worth your while. Gummi was such a gentle guide backed with a lot of interesting stories to tell, and he would go above and beyond to meet and exceed your expectations. 🙌

Nice tour with great highlights! - Going on a small group trip is much preferred to the larger buses. The only slight negative is the van's air circulation was limited. Side windows behind the driver and front passenger did not open, and the vents may not have been working right, so it felt very stuffy inside, particularly when we first started out. In the time of Covid-19, getting a constant resupply of fresh air is important.
