Additional Information

The GeoSea sea baths source their water from two boreholes, one situated by the cheese barrel and the other near Húsavík port. There isn’t any requirement for cleaning products or tools as the unbroken circulation of water from the boreholes, through the pools, over their rims and into the ocean ensures water cleanliness in compliance with health standards.

GeoSea sea baths offer a unique opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature. Leveraging the geothermal heat from beneath the Earth’s surface, the sea water in the baths is warm and soothing. The water, rich with minerals, will soften your skin. While you experience the restorative effects of the warm sea, you can savor the view of the western mountain range, Skjálfandi Bay below the sea cliffs, and the sight of the Arctic Circle far in the distance.

If interested in Husavik, come to this! - We did this as part of a tour from Akureyri (via Godafoss waterfall). Amazing!! Booked VERY last minute with a tour guide, 5 of us went and it is superb. Beautiful views, tranquil, not so many people there and a swim-up bar. It has the best view (by far) between the major lagoons (Sky, Forest, Secret) and you can get lost staring out into the area the whales come into shore (you won't see them but it's fun to try!). Must-do if staying in Akureyri/Husavik.

Left with a warm feeling to the core - Greeted by friendly staff. Their policy of drying off before going to changing area is a good one and keeps the changing area cooler. It’s a short walk to the pools. The view is awesome seeing the snow covered mountains. You must bring your own towel and robe. Robe not a necessity. What a unique feeling to be in 38 F, and not be cold while in the pools.

one of our fav hot baths... - one of our fav hot baths in Iceland. Less commercialized that BL. Ocean views that can't be beat. Clean. Great bar access. Child friendly without being full of kids.

Geothermal Sea-baths don't disappoint - what an incredible experience to sit in a geothermal sea-bath & gaze upon the ocean & fjord of Húsavik on a drizzly day. this was our favourite geothermal bath experience during our entire trip. it was not crowded, there were several pools, the view amazing, & the staff incredibly attentive. love love love this day of our trip.

Really special - Geosea is both a typical modern Icelandic hot-spring spa, and something really different. It’s location on the cliff above Husavik makes it really special. Awesome experience.

Compelling outlook and facilities - Geosea provides a compelling combination of outlook, modern facilities, great spa waters, and infrastructure (eg food and drink delivery, showers and change rooms etc) that really works. The view from the infinity pool-like thermal pools perched high on a cliff overlooking the ocean at husavik is worth the entry fee itself! You can relax in different temperature spas, enjoy the view, have a drink (alcoholic and other) and reconnect with yourself or your partner as the case may be. As good as any place in Iceland.

Spectacular views in a very relaxing setting - Stunning views over the Fjord of the mountains. The pool had a weird muddy bottom to it which made it slippery. I actually slipped on the stairs and fell, so be careful. Luckily I was fine, with only my pride hurt.

Check the weather conditions before going - This was the geothermal spa we were most looking forward to attending due to its location and view. I imagine on a calm sunny day, you could bath in the warm pools and watch whales frolicking in the water to have a peaceful, relaxing day. On the day we attended, however, the winds were strong so that the water was being whipped from one pool to the next, slapping you so hard that you couldn’t stand or even sit unless you were in the small tub by the bar window. Needless to say, our stay was not enjoyable. The facility is designed in such a way that I imagine they have a lot of days with the same poor conditions we experienced. I think it would have been appropriate to warn people of the bad conditions before they paid to enter, or offered a lower rate. Otherwise, the facility was clean and beautiful, but I would certainly check conditions before going.

Really just a large hot tub with too many people. - We went on one of the rare days where there was a sunset. There were a lot of people. Not mobbed but not romantic at all. There are really too large pools, one hot and one colder, with a third warm dipping pool near the bar. You have to exit the hot pool and enter the dipping pool to get a drink. We enjoyed Blue Lagoon and many other natural hot springs we went to more, although the views here were nice.

Shut early and didn't communicate - We booked here on New Year's Day hoping to see the 3-4 hours in the spa. We arrived at 1.30 and the woman on reception had a less than welcoming attitude from the start. But the biggest issue was that it closed at 4pm that day and that information was not on the website when we booked. Or even told to us when we arrived. When we questioned this the surly girl on reception got even more unhelpful. She started saying our booking was only for an hour (on the website it says that you can stay as long as you want) and that she had no obligation to tell us it closed early. It feels very dishonest to not make that clear when people book. Another couple arrived at 2.30! The place itself has a great view but I would say is that it is pretty small, it would have been unbearable if it was busy. There is really only one series of connected pools and a steam room. Absolutely not worth the money TBH and the poor service, attitude and lack of communication of opening times sullied the experience even further.
