Highlights
  • Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum - Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park (平和記念公園, Heiwa Kinen Kōen) is one of the most prominent features of the city. Even visitors not looking for it will likely stumble upon the large park of over 120,000 square meters. Its trees, lawns, and walking paths are in stark contrast to the surrounding downtown area.

Before the bomb, the area of what is now the Peace Park was the political and commercial heart of the city. For this reason, it was chosen as the pilot’s target. Four years to the day after the bomb was dropped, it was decided that the area would not be redeveloped but instead devoted to peace memorial facilities.

An unforgettable day in Hiroshima - It has been a pleasure to visit Hiroshima with Sachi, our guide. Thank you very much for all your explanations, for answering all our questions, for accompanying us to know a little piece of the wonderful country that is Japan. It was very touching to stay in the Memorial. Sachi, you made it a special day. We will always remember it lovingly. See you soon

Yoshi was great, touring... - Yoshi was great, touring us around Miyajima Island. He met us at the cruise port and helped us navigate public transit to the island. While there he took us to the shrines and temples on the island. He also helped us order the maple leaf-shaped treat fresh from the oven. Loved taking this private tour better than the large group tour with our cruise ship. Much cheaper than what the ship was charging for a similar tour!

Simply Excellent!! - This was a remarkable experience with Tomoe. Starting with the amount of pre communication to ensure trains and plans were in order, to her thoughtfulness re luggage storage and her very knowledgable, caring and detailed approach to the tour. My daughter and I bonded with her immediately. She accompanied us to the store at the station to ensure we had food and drink to take aboard for the 4 hour ride back to Tokyo. Simply exceptional in every way and a high end finish to our week in Japan.

Great Tour if Hiroshima - Yoshi was our guide. He was wonderful, his English was good, and his knowledge of Hiroshima was extensive. He took us several places ( the Atomic Bomb Museum, the Memorial, the Sukkeien Gardens and several individual buildings that survived, and had great information on each place. He was a really kind and friendly man and we had an excellent tour because of him.

Wonderful family tour with Tomoyo! - Our guide, Tomoyo, was exceptional in every way — from planning our itinerary in advance to confirming our meet up to the actual tour. Our tour included the Peace memorial and museum, both of which were emotional and hard (but necessary). Throughout, Tomoyo gave us incredible context and history and tried to help my 9 yo daughter understand what had occurred through manga-style comics her son had drawn. Understanding the impact and legacy of the A bomb is complicated, and Tomoyo was kind and patient with our whole family. When the images in the museum became too challenging for my daughter (be aware that the imagery in the museum is very, very hard — again, necessary but very hard), Tomoyo took my daughter to a quieter space and showed her how to make paper cranes. We just loved our time with Tomoyo. She was sweet, funny, welcoming and so knowledgeable. She also arranged for a lunch at an okonomiyaki restaurant, and we all had fun learning about making okonomiyaki and eating it. I whole heartedly recommend this tour and would recommend requesting Tomoyo. We will never forget that day or her!

Outstanding guide and tour. Masa is the best! - Masa was an amazing guide! She met us at our AirBnB...she came with umbrellas for everyone as it was drizzling. She was informative, kind, funny and an all around great guide. We did the WWII tour (depressing but necessary in my opinion. ) I had heard the story of Sadako, the young girl who folded cranes in an effort to make her wish come true. I did not know about her brother carrying on her legacy. Masa told us she had listened to the brother give a talk on the internet - she translated the story and shared it with us. Later, as we were leaving the museum, we discovered that Sadako's brother was at the museum meeting with people telling the story of his sister. It was such a treat to meet him ( for Masa as well! She was quite excited) We asked Masa to recommend an okonomiyaki restaurant - then asked her to join us for lunch. Though our time with her was done, she walked us to Hiroshima castle and told us about it. She was delightful. We actually ran into her the next day on the ferry to Miyajima as she was taking another group to the island.

Very rewarding and enriching customised tour - The tour was great, we learned a lot that we could not have learned just going from place to place on our own, especially as so many important spots are scattered throughout the town. Mimi-san customised the tour very well to fit our interests and background, and in general was a very pleasant and knowledgeable guide, choosing a very well thought out route and speaking excellent English. Absolutely highly recommend doing this tour if you are in Hiroshima!
