Dave the whale whisperer - Dave makes the trip, the whales make it better. His knowledge of all things Cetaceans is amazing, his expertise with the bay had us looking at whales within the hour. Highly recommend.

Amazing way to see whales and great guide - We took a whale walk with Dave in September. He was so insightful and took us to all the best spots. I travelled with my partner and parents - so a mix of ages! - but Dave knew how to make it accessible and fun for all of us. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hermanus. Thanks Dave for a fantastic morning.

An amazing experience - An absolutely spectacular experience. Dave has years of knowledge of exactly where to go to get the best possible chance of seeing the most amazing whales. The weather had been poor in recent days so Dave knew exactly where this would have impacted our chances of seeing them and he took us to the best possible spots. We saw a huge amount of whales (they come in pairs, the "mummy whale" and the "baby whale"). Oh and we were lucky enough to spot the white whale too! So chuffed. Thanks for a great experience Dave. Definitely recommend. From Will and Ashleigh

The best…! - If you take a tour in Hermanus… take this one! Our whale watching boat tour got cancelled so the hotel suggested the whale watching tour from shore with Dave de Beer..!!! Amazing knowledge, great info and fun facts! The hours flew by. What a great guy! Btw just before we left Hermanus the next day we went back to one of the whale spots and saw 8 whales! One momma whale with baby really close to shore(we could hear her ‘talk’). Definitely coming back..!!!

Wonderful knowledgeable guide - Dave is very knowledgeable and passionate about the wonderful whales here at Hermanus. We were unable to do a boat trip due to the windy weather thankfully Dave made our morning very special. He took us to several different spots where we managed to sight a number of whales including mothers and calves and a group of females with a male - the last attempt of mating! Dave also brought the museum to life during the visit - adapting his information to how long we wanted to stay. He was very accommodating with transfers etc.

Hermanus Whales - Landed in Hermanus, from Ireland. Got a suggestion from hotel to consider this tour, boats not sailing due to bad weather. Dave met us at whale museum, Wow this guy is good, turned a suggested walking tour into what can only be described as the best of craic! Interaction, knowledge of subject was exemplary. Known as the Whale whisperer locally, within 2 mins of gathering at the first vantage point, we saw 8 whales, awesome experience, a 2/3 hour tour finished too quickly, what Dave doesn’t know about whales I don’t know, Brilliant 10/10 Buy this guys book, Hermanus Whales, outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steep but insightful - We were a group of 10 and it so happened that we could not take the boat due to choppy waters. Dave suggested we walk through the coast where we could see the whales. In our opinion, the walk was short and we could see the whales at quite a distance. While we do understand whales do not come close to the shore, but R1000 per person was a bit to steep for a 1 hour walk on a public pathway. Dave was brilliant in terms of his information about whales and his briefing inside the whale museum was truly informative. He did give his book to us which was fantastic.
