all in one adventure tour - taking this tour, it's more fun and various kind of adventure experience including 4WD ride, historical walk in historical precinct, waking trail along the palm valley and upto the ridges , botanical learning by real encounter. it's a bit long drive from Alice to West McDonnell ranges through hermannsburg, then ride on the rugged road, through Finke national park, where palm valley locates . it' takes about 8-9 hours on whole trip.

It's so wonderful experience for this 9 hours trip

Great return trip to Palm Valley after 61 years - I returned to Mpulungkinya (Palm Valley) after 61 years, this time with my wife on a tour, rather than as a small boy with my family on our own in a Jeep my dad had hired in Mparntwe (Alice). Our guide was Johnno who was very engaging & knowledgeable, & who filled the drive out with a fascinating intro to Aboriginal culture & world view, as well as being very knowledgeable about the geology & botany from a Western scientific viewpoint. It was the rough trip up the Finke River bed I had expected, but Johnno was obviously an experienced 4 WDriver, warning us about upcoming lurches. The gorge gave the spectacular combination of red cliffs & a mix of gum trees, cycads & palm trees. We had time to for a short walk on our own under Johnno’s guidance. The it was back to Ntaria (Hermannsburg) for a stroll around the historic precinct, taking in the origins of the famous painter Albert Namatjira, & where the anthropologist & missionary Carl Strehlow had worked. In 1894 he wrote about the local stories of the ‘gods from the north’ who had brought the palm tree seeds to Mpulunkinya, a story now supported by genetic studies that date this to about 15,000 years ago. All in all a great day out.

Great near and long term historic experience - After taking this tour, I understand why some roads are 4WD only. The drive into Palm Valley was not suitable for cars. The experience itself was really good, as it showed yet another isolated island of unique plant and animal life in Australia. The Hermannsville visit was interesting in that it showed how youthful enthusiasm adapted and eventually learned to coexist with the realities of the Outback. Our guide was knowledgeable and personable, and a skilled 4WD operator. All in all a fun day seeing and experiencing new things…

Adventure into the Outback in the Northern Territories - It was exciting to really travel into the outback where most tourists would not get the chance to see. The guide, Dave, was very knowledgeable regarding the geology, flora and fauna of the area. He also shared information about the aboriginal peoples who had lived on these lands for centuries. We also enjoyed seeing the heritage village of Hermannsburg.

Old Cycads and Palm Day - Pick up was 7am at our Motel - out at 6.55am waited till 7.25 - Driver said he came at 6.45. Showed our paper for 7am. Then bus wasn't running properly. and no heating. Dave our driver talked ALL the way to Hermansburg. We went there first so they could change the bus. Interesting historic precinct. Really enjoyed seeing some of the aboriginal art for sale etc. and old buildings. We then set off for Palm Valley Really enjoyed seeing the old Cycads and the Palms only found in this area. Great crossing the Fincke River. Dave gave good information about the area but oh dear he never stopped talking and then it became personal and all about his wife and his trips.into the area.Very hard to take videos with him talking incessantly about things not even congruous with the scenery. Not the only one to find him hard to listen to. A young Aussie said she was sure he could still talk underwater with his mouth full of marbles. I suppose to be honest his non stop talk spoilt the complete enjoyment of the day.
