The excursion commences at 9 am when our local guide will rendezvous with you at your accommodation in Sapa Town or by the principal church. Following a succinct orientation, you’ll embark on a 2km descent towards the Hmong community of Cat Cat. You’ll cross the Muong Hoa river via a suspension bridge and ascend into the mountains, traversing a bamboo grove. Here, you’ll witness some of Vietnam’s most expansive and stunning rice terraces and savor the panoramic views from the Hoang Lien Son summit. The journey proceeds to Y Linh Ho village, where you’ll dine at a quaint eatery operated by a Hmong family. Post-lunch, the trek continues to Lao Chai, home to the Black Hmong, and then to Ta Van, where the Giay minority resides. As you observe the cultural distinctions among the ethnic groups, the day concludes with a return drive to Sapa.

Sa Pa

A guide from Trekkingtoursapa will greet you at your Sapa lodging or the town’s central church at a prearranged time. After introductions, a private taxi will transport you to Ta Van, where you’ll be welcomed by a Black Hmong family at their homestay. You’ll have the opportunity to relax, freshen up, and participate in cooking local dishes, including spring rolls.

1-Day trek to picturesque rice terraces and mountain vistas

Ta Van

At 9:30 am, following breakfast at the homestay, you’ll set out on a trek along a narrow path ascending to the Hoang Lien Son range, approximately 1,850m above sea level. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Muong Hoa valley and its terraced rice fields. The descent leads to the secluded Giang Ta Chai waterfall, where you can relish the natural sounds. After a pause, the trek resumes to the Red Dao minority’s abode in Giang Ta Chai village, where your guide will elucidate the differences among Sapa’s three main ethnic groups. The journey continues to Su Pan village for lunch at a local eatery. Post-lunch, the trek heads to Hau Thao, a Black Hmong community, where you’ll learn about their unique customs. The day ends with a return to the Ta Van homestay for a refreshing shower before a car or taxi takes you back to Sapa.
