Best time! - Our guide was Davis! He was absolutely amazing! It was a long drive from the city to the lake but he always reminded us that he will gladly stop for restroom and food breaks. He knew a lot about the history and volcanos. He gave us plenty of time to explore throughout the whole trip. He was super friendly and knowledgeable. 10/10

Great time on lake Atitalan - The views were amazing. Eduardo Lee and his father were our guides. They were great, made the trip very safe and transportation in the vehicle and boat were awesome. Highly recommended to use these two. We also stopped at two local restaurants they suggested for breakfast and lunch along the way along with many cultural stop in San Juan. Thanks again

Beautiful views and amazing guy - We had an amazing time. I traveled with my father and we both loved the beauty of the lago Atitlan, it is very unique and beautiful. The boat ride was amazing, and our guide Gustavo was the best! He was extremely friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure we were having a great time and providing information as we went. The only thing is that it is a very LONG drive. On our way back, the traffic to get into Guatemala city was crazy, we left around 3 and arrived to Guatemala around 7.. just something to be mindful of. Other than that, would definitely recommend

Excellent - It was smooth. We had a great time. Enjoyed lake Atitlan and the village. Traffic was a little hectic. But the driver was so great and made stops for leisure.

Lack of Communication - The start of the tour was somewhat confusing. We were picked up by Luis...driven to another hotel. Luis got out of the car with no explanation. He talked with someone standing of outside the hotel, then made a phone call. When he returned to the car, there was no explanation provided. He them took us to another location, picked up a male passenger. He and the male passenger had a lengthy conversation in Spanish..again, no explanation was provided. We finally arrived to a third location. Only myself and my family member were told to get put of the car and get into another vehicle. No explanation given. Luckily, José gave a full explanation of what occurred and why. He also provided an excellent tour! José was phenomenal. He made us feel safe and communicated throughly the remainder of the tour. I would highly recommend thorough communication throughput this tour. For those of us who are traveling out of the country, the start of this tour was a little scary due to NO communication at the start of the tour.

Scary boat ride - The tour guide was nice. The driver was way too aggressive when driving, sometimes I was scared!. The "boat" that we take to get across Lake Atitlan was very unsafe to me. It is small and very old. There were times when I thought we were going to capsize or flip over. I went with my daughter. We were both scared and traumatized. I would never do this again! The captain of the boat safely got us to our destination, thank God!

Not worth the price - The traffic was terrible which seems to be a common occurrence - if this is the case why isn’t the tour starting at an earlier time in order to avoid spending the majority of tour time in traffic. We ended up rushing through the stops and in the last one we were only there for a few minutes.

Lake Atitlan is great, but not worth the hassle - Don't get me wrong, the scenery on the way there, the lake itself, San Juan on the other side and the people were all great. Not a complaint there. But, the tour's description is not enough to make an informed decision on how long the tour will be and how much time you actually spend on the tour. It has 10 hours as a general description, but we ended up being 14 hours, out of which 9 hours were spent sitting in a van. Yes Guatemala City traffic was bad coming back, but even so, we detoured to Antigua to pick up people (not in the itinerary +1 hour) and then dropped them back again (+1 hour). In San Juan, the intent was to put you in front of local artisans to buy their stuff, vs. a better balance of what is there to view/learn/visit. Overall I would say the place was good, but the organization for it not worth the $ spent.

Head the warnings in the reviews! - We had several issues throughout the day with our tour guide. We do feel like our experience didn’t get fulfilled because he wasn’t able to provide a proper tour or answer basic history questions. We also watched him undermine several local women intelligence when he was forced to ask for directions. My highest point of concern was having to beg to use the restroom on the way home and after waiting over half and hour for him to stop he suggested that I use the restroom on the side of the highway. Overall there was a lack of time management, planning and respect. Edit: When I did try to speak to tour operator Loren about the issue I was only bombarded by messages from our guide saying he did the job as planned. I don’t care if we get the refund but I would warn others that their idea of planning is poor.
