Additional Information

Approaching Kilimanjaro from the southeast, the Marangu route, also known as the “Coca-Cola” route, is the oldest established path up the mountain. It’s favoured by many because it’s perceived as the easiest route. However, despite it being possible to complete in a minimum of five days, the likelihood of reaching the peak in this timeframe is relatively low. It’s highly suggested to take an additional day for acclimatization to increase chances of summit success. Uniquely, the Marangu route offers dormitory-style sleeping huts for accommodations.

Tick 2021 bucket List - What an absolute feeling. It is such a surreal moment. 6 Days of walking all through the days and night, the oxygen getting thinner, cold and a constant uphill. I could not be prouder of myself. I did it, but above all, my guide was the best, mount Kilimanjaro trek, the success to uhuru peak will always contributed by the guide on your side. Mount Kilimanjaro, one of the best moments of my life seeing this beauty with my eyes. I am proud to say that i have conquered Kilimanjaro. Honestly, one of the hardest thing i have ever chosen to do. Lots of ups and downs, mentally and physically challenging myself to the max. But i couldn’t done it without the support of Intrepid Explorer Tanzania and my friend Kasim Issa Kaurly.

I highly recommend Intrepid Tanzania for all your future Expeditions. - We embarked on trekking on 4th September targeting a summit on 8th on my 40th Birthday as a team of 4 Friends Tanzanians and while in Moshi teamed up with a couple from Kenya to make a team of 6. Everyone in the team was very motivated, energetic from the guides (Uncle Jonas, Isaya, Simon), porters (Anold, Athuman, Filex, Frank, Jamal, Rashid, Katunzi to mention a few), and cooks (Stomach Engineer Chef Damian) . The food was super delicious, more than I expected given the challenging environments. The guides did a tremendous job as they were very encouraging and supportive, they made sure the entire team reached the summit. Crossing the Jamaica to Gilmans point was a suicidal attempt at some point I felt very tired, felt like yelling, crying, had lot of pit stops every now and then could not move, my legs were sore and I thought I wouldn’t make it to the summit but hey Issaya – Ass. Guide kept on encouraging me saying I can do it and eventually I made it to the Uhuru Peak. The feeling of being at the rooftop of Africa provides more than just a beautiful view and a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, it feels like I can conquer and achieve anything in this world. 40th Birthday well celebrated. Speaking of the wagumu, also known as porters were very happy with their duties and they were very helpful. I was so overwhelmed with joy when they came to receive me on my way down from Kibo to Horombo, it was very kind of them. Climbing Kilimanjaro is an unforgettable experience, tough but doable with the right mindset and willing to trek another route in the near future.

Excellent - The trip was tailored to perfection, from the meals to the guides who made us feel like home away from home. The highlight for our trip was, the birthday suprise! guides suprised me with a bottle of champagne and a baked suprise cake at Horombo. I would highly recommend and will definitely arrange future trekking with them!
