Private tour of Fukouka - Our guide Peko met us at the port right off our ship. She was fabulous. We took a taxi to the main railway station and headed out to Nanzoin to see the reclining Buddha. Breathtaking. She was so knowledgeable and made the experience so enjoyable. Next we headed back into town and we had lunch in the rooftop garden of the station which had fabulous views over the city. Next we took matcha tea and sweets at a small tea house in a beautiful garden. Then 2 temples one of which we went inside the Buddha and a short stop at the heritage museum. Then back to the ship on plenty of time. We would never have been able to see so much on our own and Peko’s knowledge and personality was the icing on the cake. Definitely recommend a tour with Peko. She was fabulous. Taxi fares and transport costs were not expensive.

Erica…a fantastic guide in Fukuoka - Erica was a fantastic guide. We had limited time but she planned a beautiful day for us. She not only guided us to many locations but had detailed explanations of everything. She also was great at showing us the hidden details of daily life in Japan. We highly recommend Erica.

A Fabulous Experience with Yoko! - What a fabulous experience! Our guide, Yoko, created a perfect itinerary for us that focused around our key interests. Our visit to Nanzoin was amazing! So peaceful and awe inspiring. Yoko was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of information and insights and even laid out our route in a way that we were able to capture the depth and essence of this very spiritual place. This was followed by a very tasty lunch at a yakitori eatery at a yokocho under Hakata station. Our afternoon visits were to Kushida Shrine, with its stunning architecture...Hakatamachiya Folk Museum, where we learned about the Hakata Gion Yamakasa and saw a local artisan preparing for a doll painting class...Tochoji Temple, with it's immense Buddha made of wood and the somewhat frightening path from hell to heaven. Yoko also shared with us a lot of information about local cuisine, street vendors, shops and festivals throughout our tour. Highly recommend this tour if you are in the Fukuoka area and highly recommend you request Yoko as your guide! PS> I got my red cap (handmade by local 100year old grandmother) and my cabbage sauce =)

Excellent tour tailored to our suggestions - Our guide, Chizuko, spoke excellent English and was able to give comprehensive explanations of all the destination sights. Prior to the day she took the opportunity to liaise with us and to plan a tour which encompassed our input as well as her suggestions and which gave us a really good overview and introduction to Fukuoka.

one of the best tour i have taken so far! - This tour was amazing! im traveling alone so i always go to some tours the first day i arrive to a city, and this was the best tour i took in hakata. Sasuke , the guide who took the tour, she has a lot of knowledge of the city, the temples, shrines and fukuoka castle! she was very kind to help me to get a new phone after i broken the old one. we got to see the laying buda, kushida shrine and even the first zen temple of japan. i learned a lot of japan history and also could tied up things i already knew to fukuoka and hakata! im very grateful of all of her patience and good disposition of walking around the city. どうもありがとうございます! Our guide was punctual &... - Our guide was punctual & took us to the places we asked about. She explained ahead of time about the walking that may be required to ensure that we were comfortable & able to partake with whatever we inquired about. She thoroughly explained a lot of the history of the various places and also sought about our comfort during the tour to see that we were still able to continue. She offered a lot of tips during the tour that enabled us to return later for more in depth exploring. We were also able to visit other places using the available transportation because she explained how the systems worked. Very good experience & we highly recommend this tour as well as this guide

Fukuoka - Reclining Buddha was best. Sorry we missed the lake but saw another temple. Not enough hours in port to enjoy everything. Our guide was very friendly but hard to understand. Thankful to have him or we definitely would have been lost.
