SUPERB GUIDE!! - What can we say.... knowledge, kindness, patience , flexibility all rolled up into one with warmth and charm. Mario Dinis took us originally on a 3 hour superb Tuk Tuk tour (Tuk Tuk Sardinha Do Bairro). We then chose to continue our surrounding Lisboa visits with him. A superb driver ( who began to learn to drive at 8 years with his mother...), Mario D loves and is fascinated by the history of Portugal, and its role in the world. Any question, he will have an answer for, if not, he will find out! The tour began on a beautiful day, first to Fatima, a modern church and its older counterpart founded on the belief that a vision appeared to three small shepherd children. These striking , expansive white structures attract pilgrims from all over the world. On to Nazare. This lovely, charming seaside town has long sandy beaches on the north and south side of its lighthouse. The village homes are white washed with their orange tiled roofing. Of course, it is known for its massive surf waves in the winter that crash on to the north beach. Mario D took us up the funicular on to the highest part of the town where we enjoyed a delicious local meal there before heading to the lighthouse and the overview of the area where these 78 foot monster waves come crashing down in the winter. For those not wishing to walk as much, he was there at the ready with his immaculate Mercêdes van to pick up the stragglers. On to Óbidos, a quaint walled city with ramparts surrounding the old town. The ride through the countryside was dotted with olive trees, pines, vineyards and an amazing array of wind turbines that contribute to Portugal’s energy needs (over 52% supplied to the country using alternative energies). Obidos with its small cobblestone streets reflects an old charm of its own. Walking is essential as you make your way through this walled town with beautiful flowers clinging to the walls and surrounding castle ramparts on which to climb to view the town below and the extended countryside . Of course, there are charming shops, local restaurants and shady sitting areas. Back to Lisbon where at Mario’s suggestion we topped off the evening with a quick stop at Ginja Sem Rival at Rua Portas De Santo Antao to celebrate our wonderful day with a shot of Ginjinha to toast our friendship and this wonderful adventure . Mario D., we will miss you . Portugal should be as proud of you as you are of her. Diana, Elizabeth y Christy

Must Do Experience in London - Our tour guide was Mario, he was very friendly and had a lot of knowledge on Lisbon and surrounding areas. He drove us to Fatima, Óbidos, and Nazaré. He offered an extra bonus because it was our last day. He took us to the hill and gave us a small tour in the main part of Lisbon. He gave us many good suggestions, attentive, and kid-friendly. Everything was so beautiful and we would love to come back again.
