Highlights
  • Galleria dell’Accademia - The Accademia Gallery in Florence, once a part of the fine arts academy, traces its origins back to 1784, founded by Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo. Initially hosting gypsum models by Giambologna, it evolved with an impressive collection of original and replicated artworks, enriched further by Gothic and Renaissance paintings from abolished churches and convents.

Selected as Michelangelo’s David new home in 1873, the gallery’s relocation was prompted by safety concerns in Signoria Square. Over the years, additional Michelangelo masterpieces like the Prisoners, St. Matthew, and Pieta found a home, transforming the Accademia into an unofficial Michelangelo museum.

Join our expert English-speaking guide to breathe life into each masterpiece with intriguing stories, unraveling the legacy of one of the world’s greatest artists.

A Glimpse into Renaissance Masterpieces - Visiting the Accademia Gallery in Florence was an extraordinary journey through some of the most iconic works of art in history. As an art enthusiast, stepping into the halls where Michelangelo's "David" stands tall was a dream come true. The gallery itself is well-organized, allowing visitors to appreciate each masterpiece at their own pace. The highlight, undoubtedly, is Michelangelo's "David," a stunning representation of human anatomy and Renaissance ideals. The attention to detail and the sheer magnitude of the sculpture are breathtaking. Moreover, the Accademia houses a remarkable collection of Renaissance paintings and sculptures, providing a comprehensive overview of the period's artistic brilliance. From works by Botticelli to Ghirlandaio, each piece tells a story of creativity and innovation.

Skip the line and excellent guide are worth it! - We visited with my two young daughters and having the skip the line ticket access was great. The tour was short and sweet. The guide was very professional, spoke excellent English and very knowledgeable. It was simply breathtaking to see the original sculpture.
