Additional Information

The city of Herculaneum bears the name of the legendary Greek deity Hercules. As per Dionysius of Halicarnassus’s narrative, Hercules paved the foundation of the city in 1243 BC. However, historical research proposes that the city’s founding can instead be attributed to the Oscans or the Etruscans in the 7th century BC, with its overtaking by the Samnites occurring in the 5th century BC.

Herculaneum and Pompeii Private Tour with Guide - Veronica set up a fascinating day for us. Ciro met us at the Naples train station and we enjoyed talking with him as he drove us to Herculaneum and Pompeii. He is excellent. Very entertaining and knowledgable. He found us a delicious, affordable luch. Veronica set up a private guide and skip the line tours at both sites. Also, we used this company for transfer from our hotel to the airport. Vito drove us and he had us singing and entertained the whole time.
