Additional Information

In less frequented areas you can gain a deeper understanding of the daily lives of the local Vietnamese people; a perspective vastly different from what you experience in the city center. The people of Saigon have resided in these areas for many years, with homes being passed down through generations, visible in the ancestral altars found in even the smallest homes. These alleys showcase a tight-knit community where neighbors know each other well, resonating the proverb that a near neighbor is better than a distant cousin. You’ll get the opportunity to converse with locals about their everyday lives, offering you a glimpse into Saigon’s history, particularly that of the 1960s and the Tet Offensive of 1968.

Three-day tailored cycling tour in Mekong Delta - Just finished another EXCELLENT tour with Tropical Journeys. This time it was a three-day cycling tour in Mekong Delta. Every day we cycled 30-40km and rode in a dedicated van for the rest of the time. The mountain bikes are in excellent condition. Our guide planned the route so well that we got to see the beautiful rural parts which are usually not available to tourists. We visited lovely islands full of tropical fruit trees, floating markets on the river and vast rice paddies...We enjoyed learning cooking local food in a homestay and passed by a few wedding ceremonies. The accommodations are nice and clean. Our guide and driver always made sure that we were staying hydrated, enjoying snacks such as fresh fruits during breaks and having clean, safe and delicious local food for lunch. They are symply the BEST! Actually this is my second cycling tour with Tropical Journeys. Last May, I did a 11-day trip from Saigon to Hue with friends. It was unforgettable experience. The quality of the service has been very consistent. Highly recommended!

Personalised Vietnam Holiday - We have just completed a 2 week tour of Vietnam, using Tropical Journeys to map out a personalised itinerary for just four happy travellers. We stayed in excellent quality 4 star accommodation and travelled by bus, train and boat. In every case, the arrangements made by Tropical Journeys worked seamlessly and enriched the quality of our stay. We were taken by Dang on a walking food tour in Hanoi and were the only non-Vietnamese at each place we visited, a 2 night boat trip to Lan Ha Bay (highly recommended as the number of tourist boats is a fraction of those in Ha Long Bay) also hosted by the ever cheerful, riddle-mad Dang, who has to be one of the best tour guides we have ever experienced. Dang then ensured we were safely loaded onto the Reunification Express for our train trip from Hanoi to Hue where the Tropical Journeys experience continued and through to Hoi An over the next few days. We then flew from Da Nang to HCMC where we stayed at The Majestic Hotel (our 5 star experience) and had a fascinating street and laneways tour. It was in HCMC that we met Duc, who had organised the whole trip for us. The personal support we received from him was outstanding. In summary, the sensational work in seamlessly integrating our requirements into a well balanced delightful holiday made it one of the best we have ever experienced. We cannot help singing the praises of Duc and his whole Tropical Journeys team and have already verbally highly recommended them so would like to round that out by letting the TripAdvisor community know of the existence of this pearl of a travel agency in delightful Vietnam.
