Sinharaja Rain Forest a very important, UNESCO named world heritage site and Biosphere reserve. Sinharaja is one of the most important bio diversity hotspot in Sri Lank The hilly virgin rain forest, part of the Sri Lanka lowland rain forests was saved from the worst of commercial logging by its inaccessibility, it is a treasure trove of endemic species, including trees, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.
An interesting phenomenon is that birds tend to move in mixed feeding flocks, invariably led by the fearless Greater Racket-tailed Drongo and the noisy Orange-billed Babbler. Of Sri Lanka’s 26 endemic birds, the 20 rainforest species all occur here, including the elusive Red-faced Malkoha, Green-billed Coucal and Sri Lanka Blue Magpie.
Reptiles include the endemic Green pit viper and Hump-nosed vipers, and there are a large variety of amphibians, especially tree frogs. Invertebrates include the endemic Common Birdwing butterfly and the inevitable leeches.

Great day in rain forest - I booked this tour through TA. The driver picked me up at 730am sharp in colombo, drove 3 hrs and met by guide, he took me on bike to entrance and we started the trek. I saw chameleons, millipedes, snakes and spiders, along with 3 waterfalls. I tried to climb the 1st one but slipped, my guide was so gracious and helpful. I also got bit by a leech on my foot, he bandaged the bite.God bless him. You should have some level of fitness to do this trek, its uphill in places. I swam in the 2nd waterfall area. I recommend this one.
We then ate lunch at his mothers restaurant which is homecooked sri lankan food. I was told many foreigners decline. They truly are missing out on authentic sri lankan cuisine. I very much recommend this tour/trek

The majestic Sinharaja trip - I booked the tour thru Sudhhansa tours. They are very professional in their approach and customised the tour according to my needs. Even they changed the timing of our departure from hotel in Colombo to Sinharaja as per my request. The driver who drove me to the forest was amazing too with a helpful heart. And oh boy, what should I say about the sinharaja forest... It's pristine and a hidden gem in Srilanka. Majestic waterfalls, never seen before flora and fauna and away from all hustles and bustles. Must visit place if you are visiting srilanka.

Tropical evergreen forest - Virgin forest, amazing waterfalls... Beautiful flora and fauna. Worth visiting. Borders paradise. Enjoyed every bit of it.

Pleasant trip, gladly again - Everything was fine, the driver was punctual and friendly. The car was air conditioned, comfortable and clean. The driver waited for us during our tour to take us back to the hotel afterwards :-)

Sinharaja rain forest tour - A guided walk through the jungle which was a fantastic experience.
The guide was so helpful finding jungle creatures for us to see and photograph. The waterfalls are spectacular.
We saw fish and crayfish in the rock pools, it was a wonderful day.

Great service and wonderful experience in the rainforest! - Sameera picked us up at our Galle guesthouse at 07:00 in the morning. He neatly drove us for more than two hours into the Sinharaja rainforest. Here we were awaited by our friendly guide named Nishantha who took us on a hiking trip through the forest. He showed us three beautiful waterfalls and we saw many animals, such as spiders, snails, snakes, lizards, butterflies, etc. After the hike Sameera returned us to our accommodation as requested. Thank you both for the nice experience!

Amazing experience!! Really what we expected - This is a mandatory experience to do it complete the other safaris and allows to see the Sri Lanka throught another eye
The guide was really cool we shared a good moment with him he was really atentioned and opened to every question we had
Even if it was a little bit rainy this day we saw a lot of animals and flowers
If you have the time you can swim in a beautiful waterfall lost in the middle of the jungle

Worth the experience - We had a really good time. Our tour guide was really patient with us and explained things in detail when. We chose to only hike the rainforest for about 2 hours because it was so humid but the tour could’ve continued for 4-5 hours. We saw giant snails, monkeys, a tarantula, snakes, and even more animals and insects. It was a really good time and we would definitely do it again.

What an adventure! But get prepared beforehand - The day in the Sinharaja Rainforest was an absolute adventure. Samira brought us safe and fast to the starting point of the tour with an experienced tour guide there and back. The whole tour through an authentic part of the SInharaja Rainforest took nearly 5 hours as we discovered exotic plants and animals like monkeys, snakes, butterflies, geckos and many more.
Because of the ground moisture we unfortunately encoutered many leeches, so get prepared beforehand and pack long socks, sturdy shoes or (even better buy) leech socks, as they try to find their way to your skin (not poisonous but annoying).
